Chicago Gameday 27 Planning Thread: getting ready for October 23rd

Buzz,

I'm trying to decide between two events.

#1) the PCs are intelligent zombies attempting to lead a zombie hoard to freedom from a quarantined medical facility. It will be a bit of a strategic/combaty game with zombie hoard resource management thrown in. System: probably Savage Worlds.

#2) You and your friends from the local college decide to check out the legendary old "haunted house" at the edge of town. Turns out it was haunted by something very nasty and you all got killed. Now you are trapped there as ghosts with the Awful Nasty Thing(TM). You see that the Ghost Chasers, a web-famous paranormal investigation team, have come to check out the house. Can you help save them from painful, grizzly deaths? Could you possibly help them break the curse that imprisons you in the house? System: PDQ
Both of these ideas are pretty cool! I am of no help!

Morning Slot 5: WHATEVER YOU SAY, MIRACLE MAX! (That's right...it's time to storm the castle!), D&D 3.5, TracerBullet42

Trouble seems to follow this group wherever it may go. Perhaps "follow" isn't the right word, in this case...more like "hunt." Lately, trouble has taken on the form of giants. Big, frosty giants...and they seem to be coming from that castle over there. You know...that one floating up in the clouds.

WHATEVER YOU SAY, MIRACLE MAX! (That's right...it's time to storm the castle!) is a D&D 3.5 adventure that features the PCs from most of my previous gameday's D&D games, though it is not necessary for you to have played in them.

This adventure is designed with love, care, and a little bit of whimsy for up to six players (although there will, likely, be eight characters to choose from). We will be using some of the alternate rules from Unearthed Arcana, including the facing rules. (Don't worry, they're easy, and I'm not an ogre about it.)

Some previous experience with D&D 3.5 would be nice, since they'll be 17th level PCs. I'll help you along, though, if you're new to the game. Just bring some dice and a willingness to have a little fun.

Let's give my poor event a title, and slightly edit the event blurb!

This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things!
System: D&D 4e
Players: 6

All good things must come to and end right? You’ve adventured together for the better part of five years, but now, you’re all seeing life pull you in different directions. Whether you want to settle down and run a business, pursue research, or dedicate yourself to some higher cause, adventuring together is one thing that you’re putting behind you for now. It’s not as though you didn’t have fun, and you certainly made quite a bit of money.

After besting your last trap-filled tomb—and man, was it a nasty one--it’s time to hang up the adventuring cloak and celebrate new beginnings at the Falconcall Pub in Iriaebor (Now under new management at the hands of your humble rogue, Dagger!) before you each head on your own way. It’ll be a relaxing, merry evening for all...

Come play out this flashback episode featuring Trev’s infamous (dare I say iconic?) heroes before they were big shots fighting demons and beholders, and single-handedly saving the city from doom.

This is a 9th-level 4e D&D adventure set in the Forgotten Realms (3rd edition flavor). 6 pre-generated celebrity look-alike characters provided. If you’re signing up, please take a look at them in advance, and pick who you want to play. People who call a character in the registration thread get first dibs. As per usual, there will be a fabulous (cheap) prize awarded who best roleplays their character throughout the morning.

Okay, we need event decisions/descriptions from Tim C Koppang and Reidzilla. *whip-crack*

Also, do people prefer Sunday afternoons or Monday evenings for player sign-up?

Reid,

My guess would be that #2 would be the more popular request, though both sound like they could be fun. Don't let another "i'm already running something first slot" guy be the decider though. :)
