If it runs concurrently with your adventure, then I suppose I have a choice to make :)

OK, unless a Mutants and Masterminds game appears to challenge my schedule...

I'd rather not allow for people to switch from game to game.

It really screwed up the schedule (for almost all of the DMs and players, in one way or another) last time around. In fact, the reason you claimed to be tentative was due to ETA. I would not have placed you in a seat, on the schedule, if it had been due to game shopping.

I would rather not have to make a hard and fast policy.

What we do is suppossed to be just a bunch of gamers, getting together as friends, while understanding and respecting that the people who run the games have to be able to put the games together with some notion that the player side of the equation will be stable.

Switching games screws that up for everyone. It caused tons of problems last gameday so I implore everyone to not commit to a seat if you cannot stick with your choices.

The unfortunate flip side to that is that if all of the players wait until the last minute, some DMs might withdraw their games and possibly not even show up.

So, please choose your games as early as you can and please stick with the choices that you make. It's a small price to ask for a day of free gaming, some nice prizes and very little stress for anyone if we can just eliminate this switching-around-games bug that seems to be the biggest single problem we experince at these things.

Other thoughts on this?

Speaking as a first-time two-slot GM, I'm not going to be too upset with people switching out or in of my own games, just as long as my number of player slots is respected and not gone over. I played a pickup game last time around and it seemed to go well.

But I can totally understand the other side of it, too. You don't want to do all that planning and have no one come to your game. But I figure I won't be too upset if one of these games falls apart. After all, I can always use them at GenCon. :)

OK, my Call of Cthulhu game now has a title and that's all the additional synopsis information you players are going to get - "CROATOAN". I also suppose I will take more than four players, but six is the absolute limit before my GM skills REALLY start to break down.

I will also have Zombies!!! with me for some additional fun. Yes, I will only be bringing it along for fun - it's not like I'm going to need all those zombie minis for anything else that day ;). Side note for those who played Zombies!!! last time - we played it wrong! There should have been many more zombies on the board, which should've led to people other than me constatnly dying.

Josh - The game will be d20 Call of Cthulhu. Sorry for any confusion.

Quickbeam - novices are wonderful for a GM to have in a Cthulhu game - it's absolutely delightful to break them, umm, I mean watch them blossom in a new gaming environment. :)

Later,
Matt

Mark -

Looks like I'll have to bow out this time. If I'm able, I'll at tleast stop by and see how things are going, but I won't have the time to commit to gaming or DMing. Next time, though!

And Trev: Don't feel so bad. One year, while I was VP of a theatre group, we lost three directors for three consecutive shows for various reasons. I ended up directing two of them, and a friend did the third. Another year, we had to pull a show from our schedule at the last minute because the rights became unavailable due to a Broadway revival. Part of the fun of theatre is dealing with chaos. :)

Sorry that the Bronx won't be up nor the Battery down for you, though.

By the way, can I have five slots for each of my games? I don't think I'm ready to handle 6 or more players in either d20 Modern or whatever I run in the afternoon. But 4 isn't enough. So 5 sounds like a nice compromise. :)

Time to get off the fence. I have you down for the d20 Modern game in the morning. Please choose a scenario and title for it.

Also, please make a firm determination on what game, if any, you will run in the second slot.

We need to get this finalized as you can see from my previous post and the problems people are apparently having making up their minds.

Hey mark can you put paulmandigo down for matty's game please

thanks...

I prefer not to sign people up by proxy as you will recall we discussed to some length last time around. It seems unfair to fill out a game with people who cannot at least take the time to post themselves (so little a requiement, eh?). It's been the only stipulation up until now. I though that you assured me then it wouldn't be a problem this time if I made that exception last time., didn't you?

Sorry. I guess with all the confusion over which way we were doing it, I didn't realize how short of time we were.

All right then, here we go:

Game 4 (morning) - "Skinny Ties and Brilliant Minds" (d20 Modern)
Summary - Five MIT graduates, highly-esteemed in their respective fields, have kept in touch over the years to secretly fight global crime. Now, in 1984, evil rears its ugly head again and these brilliant minds must criss-cross the world in an effort to stop it before it is too late! Pre-generated characters of 10th level (no Advanced Classes) provided. Beginners to d20 Modern welcome!
DM - mgrasso

Game x (afternoon) - "A Day in the Life" (Aberrant)
Summary - It was just supposed to be a typical day doing public relations for Team Tomorrow. You're in Project Utopia's top echelon of Novas, but you're also reserves. Without the glory or name recognition of the main T2M teams, you spend most of your time giving interviews, signing autographs and doing photo ops. But not today. Pre-gens provided, but open to also making characters over lunch break. Experience with Storyteller or Aeon games very welcome.

That's disappointing. You will be missed. :(

I do hope that you will at least be able to stop by the store. :)

Mark:

Is this the main thread for all games, or should I promote my Aberrant game on the RPG.net boards? I just realized that there might be separation between d20 and non-d20 games in this way.
