Chicago Gameday - Last Comments then to the Archive!

Booyah!

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY, SIGN ME UP FOR SKINNY TIES IN THE MORNING AND mattyhelms' CTHULHU FOR THE EVENING!!!

Ergo, Joshua, I will not be running a D*M game. Given my schedule between now and Game Day, I don't think I can get it together. That and I'd like to play d20M once before I try and GM it. ;)

Next time, though! I promise!

How about non-RPGs? I'd be willing to run a game of "War: Age of Imperialism" in the second slot.

War: Age of Imperialism is an empire-building game of colonization and conquest. It is similar to both Risk and Axis & Allies (down to the plastic minis) and lies between the two on the complexity scale. Participants will be asked to download and read a copy of the rules prior to the gameday (from
http://www.eaglegames.net/products/WAR_AOI/war_resources.shtml ).

The game is for 2 to 6 players; it will be hosted by Todd Sabin & Steve Kramer, so we would have room for four more players.

If this is an RPG only event, then we can skip this idea.

-- Todd Sabin

I would love to play this. I bought the game last year and have never played. The second session starts at 4. Maybe the memorial service will be over. The time of the service is at home, so I will have to check back later.

Again, I'm just tossing out hypotheticals...

OK. Let me put this another way. Can we just agree to respectfully commit to games as early as we can and not switch from one game to another down the line? (rhetorical)

It's not a lot to ask, is it? (rhetorical)

I'm going to leave this debate, if indeed there really needs to be one, to other people. Since, Joshua Dyal is interested in handling hypotheticals, and since his schedule is set and he will not be preparing a game (so he has the time), I am going to assign him as the person in charge of making sure that all questions in this debate are handled to everyone's satisfaction.

To that end, Joshua, you are charged with the duty of defending the no-switching side of this issue and resolving any difficulties that arise from said issue not only to everyone's satisfaction but also with a result that there be no switching.

Rather than futher confuse the issue in the minds of people who are content to self-regulate their switching urges, I am going to ask that any further discussion be handled by Email between Joshua Dyal and any concerned parties.

Further still, Joshua, I am asking that at breakfast of the gameday you be prepared to make a report to those assembled on your findings and we will discuss their merits of reopening the issue for debate prior to any subsequent gamedays.

There. :) Now we're all happy again, right? (again, rhetorical) ;)

I do hope that you will be able to stop in and perhaps get in the second slot. :)

Mark, I hope you understand I wasn't trying to be difficult. Josh and I will plan on being there in time for the morning sessions. I would like to retain my seat in your game, and then grab a seat in Matty's CoC afternoon game.

No problem. I know that you weren't. I'll add you to the CoC game and remove the italic from your name in my game. omokage will probably have to stay italicized right up to the end because of his new baby. :)

Mark: :D I agree, I've talked too much about this already.

buzz: Well, we're in both games together again. Just don't bring up D*M if you don't want my characters to suddenly develop a psychopathic streak against yours! ;)

Too late! :D I asked for responses (and by implication, volunteers) and while you were posting the rest of the thread quietly took one step back. You are in charge of the "understanding the sign up process" aspect of this and all future Chicago Gamedays! Welcome aboard! Here's your clipboard, whistle and a small supply of lembas to keep your strength up. :p

The truth of the matter is that I do not delagate nearly enough of the responsibility for thse gamedays as I ought, and since you have the time, I am going to make you the first vict... volunteer. Done and done. :)

If anyone jumps into the thread with questions and a simple online explanantion doesn't satisfy them, please take them outside... aside and help them to understand them implicit policies that we've all groan... grown to understand make for a smooth and fun day for us as a whole.

Thanks. :)

Hola Mark. If my group and I want to show up for our regular game at Games Plus, how would that work? Would we need a slot? I remember last time we almost didn't have a table. :D

We'd probably get there around 2:00 PM and stick around till 7:00 PM.

Hiya Joe! :)

I don't know if I can guarentee a table with out you signing up for one in a slot, and the times to suggest would be something on the order of an "early slot two" so to speak. I guess we could slot it for two, and you might have to wait for the slot one folks to clear off their stuff if they were running long (though I doubt all of the tables would run as long as two o'clock).

Can you get the guys to sign up here and make it official if I were to slot the game for you? I'd hate for someone either here or on RPGnet to forego taking a table if it didn't work out.
