Game 3 - World of Synnibarr - "A World of Adventure!"
Summary - Discover the realms of Synnibarr, power-gaming at its finest! Flying grizzlies with laser-shooting eyes, Midnight Sunstone Bazookas, thousands of Life Points at first level - it's all here. Character creation will be covered for those who do not own the rules. While many have lambasted this game as the worst RPG ever, I love its goofy charm - best described as a poorly translated Japanese Super Nintendo RPG with bizarre characters, huge non-sensical monsters, and ridiculously powerful attacks - and think we'll all have a blast playing it.

Things to do in Chicago when you're a gamer...

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I'm going to be in Chicago 7-14 June for work. I should have Sunday 8 and Friday 13 to myself, so I was wondering:

What D&D-related things are there to do/see in Chicago?

What are the best RPG stores?

How much would it cost to go from S. Michigan Ave to Games Plus by taxi? How hard will it be to get a taxi back?

Games Plus is probably one of the best stores in the country, let alone Illinois.

Unfortunately, getting there by taxi from the city will probably run you like $100. I believe there is a Metra (commuter rail) stop right by the store, though, which would only run you maybe $5. :)

This thread has some other suggestions. I second buzz's comment on Games Plus. Definitely worth the train ride out there and back. It's on the Chicago-to-Harvard line, which you catch from the Oglivie Transporation Center (immediately north of Union Station). www.metrarail.com will get you more info.

Yikes!  Glad I asked.

That's more like it. I'll try to figure it out.

Thank you, buzz. You too, Eridanis. You're both stars! ;)

BTW I'm planning on going to the Art Institute. They have a cool arms and armour collection (note correct spelling of "armour"). :p

Yup, it hurts. It's almost worth pulling the Synnibarr game if both you and buzz don't play. The creator of Maxfield Polish will be missed.

Later,
Matt

Max may be gone, but his schtick continues...

Maxwell Polish... It's a pun, of sorts, and I don't think you ever got it right in the game, either. ;) :p

Good God, man, how long have you lived near Chicago? Go to your local Portillo's, and ask them for a Maxwell Polish. Then come back here and tell everyone what they gave you.

Here's a clue: Max's middle name was Street.
