Chicagoland Gaming Stores

Astalanya

First Post
New to the Chicagoland area, living in the western suburbs, and I'm really in need of a decent gaming store! I left behind an excellent resource at "home", and where am I to get my fix?

I've only found a gaming store in Mount Pleasant, and that's more than an hour's drive from Naperville. Is there anything nearer at hand to Naperville-Aurora that comes well recommended? Or heck, what are the leading stores stocking d20 in the area?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

Games Plus in Mt. Prospect....

Gamer's Paradise. One on Clark street by Diversery. One in the Woodfield Mall. One att he HIP (Harlem Irving Plaza). A few others around.

Hobbytown USA on Milwaukee and Oakton

Something Wicked in Evanston has a great selection and a good bargin bin section..

Book stores. Sad to say but Borders and other book stores like Barnes & Nobles have a fair selection of RPG books.

Comic stores. Haven't been to a real comic book store in a long time, but back in the day some of them had the more popular games.

The internet. You can post here, you can serf the net. Amazon, Stiggiby, Overstock, E-bay, and others will net you some deals.

Sad to say but despite Chicago's large population, it's not a very gamer friendly town. You can't even buy Spray Primer in Chicago proper.

That's the one I heard a great deal about. :) Seems to be a popular place and apparently holds a gaming extravaganza in the next few weeks.

This sounds like a promising place. Gotta love bargain bins! I'm more interested in picking up RPG products and models than anything else. SO's a modeller, hence the need to locate a place that hopefully handles both. We'll have to see how this turns out, though.

Really? That surprises me, given the population! Hopefully we'll be able to find something. I don't really fancy driving clear out to Indiana or Wisconsin for a gamer-friendly store, but if that's what it takes, I guess that's our option for the big purchases.

Where in the Western Subs? For modeling and wargaming there is a great store in Winfield called Proseks? It is a combination Nursury/hobbystore. The nursury makes the money and the hubby gets to run his hobby store. Not much in RPGs, but models galore andlots of old board games.

For RPGs and miniatures there is nothing to match Games Plus in Mt. Prospect.

Well, whenever we get settled in our new office in a couple of months, you can drop by and get product straight from us, too. :) We don't have a store, just the warehouse, but it's nice to have a gamer drop in every so often.

I'm located on the border of Naperville and Aurora. Proseks, I'll have to check into that. Strange combination of nursery and hobby store, but it makes sense now that you explain it. Hee, that's a cute arrangement. ^^

I look forward to it! :)

There used to be a game store just south of the Riverwalk in Naperville. Can't recall the name, and its been several years since I went there, but it used to have a decent selection, though nowhere near as good as Games Plus...
