Well, my DM is restarting the campaign again (a fairly common occurance) and I am split between two choices. Vampire or child (Vampire child or Dhampir are not options).

I made an eight level class that emulates the vampire. It grants a BAB and Saves and HD, so the powers have all been toned down, a bit.

But, if I decide to play the human child, anyone know what I should make my STR, DEX and CON scores? I know STR and CON should be low, but what about DEX? This is a first level campaign, what would be a good class? I might find that Noble class posted on this forum somewhere.

Wow, no aging effects for under 15. Thought there used to be.

I wouldn't have a strength over 14 in most cases. If you're younger than 10, even lower. Con might be 16 at most, probably a bit lower, but that tends to be something that doesn't change as much as strength. You may want to limit dex a bit too (similar to con), as that does develope a bit as we age as well. All the mental stats might be a bit lower, but those are more flexable, because you can have a child prodogy. The most hampered one should be wisdom, as that is something that can develope with experience, but still could be high for his age.
 

Off the top of my head? I know GURPS has a system in place for younger characters, so you could base it off that.

I guess what stat mods you'd look for would be based on just -how- young you are.

If you have any old material, I think 2E had adjustments that you could use without much of a problem as well.

The Modern D20 SRD says this:

Children (newborns to age 11) are handled differently from other characters. They do not have classes or levels. They begin with the same ability score package as ordinaries (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8), but their ability scores are reduced as follows: –3 Str, –1 Dex, –3 Con, –1 Int, –1 Wis, –1 Cha.
Children have 1d4 hit points plus their Constitution modifier (minimum 1 hit point). They have no skills, feats, action points, or occupations. Their base attack bonus is +0, they have a +0 modifier on all saving throws (plus any modifiers for high or low ability scores), and their Reputation bonus is +0.

Children have a +0 modifier to Defense and a normal speed of 20 feet.

Children have no effective attacks and should be treated as noncombatants.

When a child turns 12, he or she is considered a young adult and takes his or her first level in one of the six basic classes. At that point, the character becomes an ordinary (or hero, in some cases).

Quint. Sorcerer has stats for playing children (for those who want to play a prodigy):

Young Adult (12 for a human): -1 to Str, Dex, Con, Int, and Wis
Toddler (5 for a human): -2 to Str, Dex, Con, Int, And Wis. -1 To Cha
Infant (1 for a human): -4 to Str, Dex, Con, Int, and Wis. -2 to Cha


Like aging, these penalties are cumulative (Infant suffers a -7 to all physical stats, Int, and Wis. They also suffer a -3 to Cha). These just work in reverse: the penalties are reduced as you grow older.

Not too far off, IMHO. An average person (10 on all stats, for arguments sake) would have most stats at 3 as an infant (Cha at 7, but most infants I know are pushy enough to qualify for MUCH higher scores ;) )


They also provided an interesting feat:
Child Prodigy

May only be selected at 1st level.

Benefit: Pick a mental trait (Int, Wis, or Cha). You can ignore the age modifiers for the first two catagories that apply to you.



Tried it once. Didn't pan out, due to the campaign being combat heavy (my fault, I underestimated the DM's intentions). Might work for you though. A five year old sorcerer... that could be fun :]. Or the cloistered cleric (bother him not, for he is the chosen one)...
If you want an evil bent to him, use the OGL Ancients Aristocrat. You get slaves via a modified Leadership feat (at 2nd level no less), and a fear effect, since everyone believes your the child of a god.
