Mylistra and JENDI look through Gulthias's Blood Book of the Goat-Horn together and find an appropriate ritual for casting out what Gulthias put into the soil. Mylistra sucks in a breath as she realizes what the ritual costs: this is a hungry book. She starts to explain to Jendi what the cost is, but notices him staring over at his sister with haunted eyes. Mylistra looks over to her friend and see the warden puzzle over the depth of the soil, using Jendi's staff to measure it. If guilt were not a factor, the witch suspects that the warlock would never allow it to be used thusly. Toriq calls out to them, "it should be deeper: there must be some kind of trap door. Also, I don't think this upper layer is tainted..... Wait! I have found something." At that both Toriq and Nemo (who had been helping her look and examine) both leap back. A loud grinding sound resonates throughout the chamber, and they all watch as the lower level of soil slowly rises upward. This new soil is most obviously the source of the taint they have all been feeling, and they almost gag sensing it. Jendi and Mylistra walk up tentatively up to the edge of the soil, and Jendi opens the book and prepares to read the words that Mylistra had just translated for him. Stopping him, the witch holds her hand over the pages and - with her own dagger - makes a small slice in her palm, allowing the blood to drop onto the page. Momentarily the symbols on the page seem to gleam silver, then Jendi begins to read the highlighted words. As soon as he has spoken a specific phrase, those gleaming letters fade back into the more static brown ink upon the page. When he has finished reading, he stares down at the page, then up at Mylistra, mouth agape. "This is a hungry book," she repeats, feeling a bit dizzy at the blood loss and knowing he had been too preoccupied to hear her earlier. "Wow," Nemo murmurs reverently, looking around at the vastly changed atmosphere, "it actually worked!"

Mylistra uses her Encounter Power Healer's Mercy to give her blood and weaken herself for a +2 Power Bonus to Jendi's Primary Skill check
Toriq makes a Secondary Skill Dungeoneering check to bring the truly tainted soil to the surface: +8 for Autosuccess = +2 SS bonus for Jendi's Primary Skill check
Jendi makes a Primary Skill Religion check to perform a ritual reversing Gulthias's desanctification of the grave soil: r10 +8 +2 SS (Toriq) +2 PB (Mylistra) = 22 vs 21 Hard DC.
