Chilling Tales Horror Roleplaying Has Returned!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that due to some rather unfortunate (pathetic would be a better word) problems with Tripod Web hosting, my Chilling Tales Horror Roleplaying Web site is moving. I've purchased a domain name, found a new host, and now I'm just waiting on the powers that be on the Internet to process everything.

The new address will be www.chillingtales.com and should be up in a few days.

Also, I will no longer be available at the chillingtales@lycos.com e-mail address anymore. I will let you know what my new address is when everything is set up.

Thanks again!

Moderators: Sorry for the cross post - I've limited myself to posting this on the d20 Modern and d20 System/OGL threads where I hang out most.

Thank goodness!

I went there the other day and was just like CRAP! Where are all my inspiration links? Well it is good to know that you are going somewhere.

-Goodluck!

My move is now complete. You can reach Chilling Tales Horror Roleplaying at the following URL:

http://www.chillingtales.com

My new e-mail address is joe@chillingtales.com

Oy. Now it's time to get back to work on the fun stuff :)

And thanks for the kind words, ShaperMC, and for all your help in the past with providing links. Please be sure to let me know when you get your d20 Call of Cthulhu material up on your Web site so I can add you to my Links page. :)

Cool, Chilling Tales is back with a new url. :) The new url has been added to my site's links page. Great site btw. I especially like your rules for adding character Flaws. I've been thinking of doing the same thing for the Pulp Heroes game, but just haven't got around to it. ;)

Cheers,
Tim

Thanks for the link Tim! I'm a big fan of Thrilling Adventures myself. Perhaps we should consider a Chilling/Thrilling Pulp Horror collaboration someday?

That sounds like fun. Hmmm... I have been tempted to write a Pulp Heroes horror (CoC?) adventure... or maybe some pulp horror era templates? :)

As I said in an earlier post, I like your rules for adding character Flaws. I had been thinking of a similar system, but I had the idea of splitting the flaws into 2 categories (minor & greater). Minor flaws would grant bonus skill points (2 points? spent on class skills only), and Major flaws would grant bonus feats.

Keep up the good work, Joe.

Cheers,
Tim

Thanks again, Tim. :) I've been meaning to go back and revisit my flaws system now that d20 Modern is out and established. There's some good flaw systems that have come out since I intially worked that up, but I'd still like to go back and tinker even if it is just an academic exercise. I like your idea for splitting flaws into minor and major categories too.

Does d20 Modern have a Flaw system? I might have to check out my friend's copy of the d20 Modern rulebook again if this is the case. I like what you did with your flaw system, but I'm not sure about some of the banned feats though. :) Off hand, I'm thinking of the Criminal Past flaw... I think Skill Focus (all cha based skills) should be still allowable since you could easily have an excon who is a smooth talker (skill focus - bluff) or a brutish goon (skill focus - intimidate). I guess I'm not sure if all flaws should have prohibited feats, but then again I haven't thought of anything better either. :)

Here is the url for those who might be interested in Joe's Flaw system (Lab Notes #2):

Tim

Criminal Past: I see what you're getting at, but remember, they can still have those skills (Bluff, Intimidate) and even be good at them, they just have to do it the "hard" (i.e. by assigning available skill points) way. :) You can still have skills, even use allowable skills untrained, you just can't take feats that make your use of that skill better.

Prohibited Feats: Part of the "theory" behind my Flaws system (besides just picking up an extra feat with a flaw) was to allow access to the myriad of really cool third party publisher feats to help better define the character you want to play, albeit at the cost of access to a handful of "standard" feats. In that context, I think it makes a little more sense (I think). ;)

Here's the link to the PDF version of my Flaws system - it contains an additional character archetype not in the HTML version:

http://www.chillingtales.com/pdfs/lab0002.pdf

Almost forgot - there's no flaw system in d20 Modern. :)
