Choices, choices....

Gah, i'm being pressured to run a game, something I do want to do, but i'm rippin my hair out between two choices!!.

I really want to run a standard D&D game so i can utalize my D&D Mini collection, (just to see the PC's piss themselves when I place out my army of zombies).

On the other hand i've been itching to run a modern game along a very buffy'esq scoobyish story line.

Gah, choices choices.

Add to the fact that I want to run my standard game for an exuse to use my ko-toa minis and an exuse to buy The Deep, and The modern one for an exuse to get people to use MPC and MAM and stuff..

Do what I do: do both.

I run a bi-weekly 12th level D&D game, and a weekly solo epic game.

Too much D&D ? There is no such thing.

I'm a firm believer in alternating...D&D one week, Modern the next.

You get both settings, and no one gets bored of the same thing.

I does, however, require you to track/write up double the campaign stuff. :(

Maybe because its the beginning of the year, but I'd say go back to basics and run a standard game. Sometimes, I feel us DMs try to outthink ourselves and forget why we started playing in first place. A standard campaign doesn't mean it lacks creativity. Plus you spent $$$ on the minis -- get some use out of em.

I'm guility as I suspect of many of us are in trying to run the perfect game. There's alot to be said for a standard game. It's not like Monte Cook is gonna knock on our door(s) and say, "that's one fine game you're running; here's a ton of money so you can come work for me."

Go with the standard D&D. You've got the miniatures and it's fun to pop them out on the table and watch the look of dull horror as the players groan, "Hey man, I think that you brought too many out eh? What are those over there, the backups? No, seriously man, we run!"
