Pathfinder 1E Choosing spells for item creation

First Post
I've got some questions about making a character who is the group's item crafter. Looking around it sounds like Wizard is the best option for doing this, especially with the Arcanamirium Crafter "specialty school" available for them.

Obviously, having all the Item Creation feats would be Sky Blue for this type of character, as would a number of Metamagic feats as well.

What I'd like to know is what spells are most recommended for this type of character.

I would think that adding all the Transmutation spells that enhance ability scores (Fox's Cunning, Owl's Wisdom, Bear's Endurance, etc.) would be Sky Blue. Resistance comes with every spellbook, so that's a no-brainer as well.

I've looked all over but can't seem to find any guides online for the recommended spells for this type of character.

I also can't seem to find which spell one needs to cast on a magic weapon or armor to give it the initial base +1 (and higher) bonuses. I know that's kind of a stupid question... but if I want to make magical weapons and armor I kind of need to know!

Thanks a bunch. I appreciate the help!

You may want to consider, if your DM allows, using the Artificer class instead. Like the Eberron class of the same name, it automatically gains all of the standard item creation feats.

I don't believe there actually IS a spell to give an item its initial +1 (and higher) bonuses, but if you must, just use (greater) magic weapon and mage armor. (The PF SRD also lists advanced versions of the latter spell.)

I asked about the Artificer from Eberron already but unfortunately my DM has said that he wishes to use only official PF sources. I don't mind that he wants to do this, it'll make playing this sort of character more challenging and fun for me.

I just want to make sure I provide the recommended spells so he can be the most useful to the party without being min-maxed or munchkin'd.

Official Paizo sources or just Pathfinder? Because the artificer I pointed out above - and linked to on the Pathfinder SRD - is the Pathfinder verson.
