You know, they already do it. 5e and also previous editions are full of strange time space continuum anomalies. This leads to strange effects like dwarven wizards and dragonborn appearing out of nowhere on worlds where there have been none before. Until critical mass is achieved FR will continue to pull in adventures and topics of other world. Maybe if it is getting to bloated it might sunder again😀

In Warhammer Fantasy catapults are used to throw living goblins. I suggest to fire a canon ball with a magic rune of teletransportation to send packs of summoned animals (or undeads or "cheap" constructs).

Drows are possible in Dark Sun as a elf slave race created by that group of sentient dark spiders.

I have got a crazy idea:

There is a war between the raels and the kir overseers (AD&D Odyssey: tale of the comet). Planar rifts and crashed crashed both appear in a special "crystal sphere" (maybe is the world of Jakandor island, or with a planar gate toward this place). This is visited, explored and later conquered by the oards, other high-tech race from Aeslo (Mystara twin Earth)(AD&D module "Where chaos reign"). The fact is different of high-tech civilizations are trapped in a world of magic and fantasy, and they hate each other (at least raels get alliances with natives). They search an exit, but they jump from the ashes to fall over the embers, leaving Badajoz to go toward "Worsejoz". They end in Krynn, but in the timeline where Raistlin became god and destroyed everything. This captures some "visitors" and discover the ways to open planar gates to other places. He can't leave his land, but at least can abduct people from other worlds. Somebody of them are from Ravenloft, Innistrad (Magic: the Gathering) or Darksun. Now appears new character, a half-Irda girl who could be his daughter working for his father's redemption, and lord Sorth and family. Lord Sorth's son is alive and a adult, and his... girlfriend is a lady who is a sosias (look-alike) of his father's dead wife (some god has a sick sense of humor). Lord Sorth is now a "necessary evil" because this world (let's call it new Sithicus) now is between the chaotic limbo and the far realm, being invaded by nightmare creatures. And a new guest arrives, Set cult from a akasha demiplane with the name "Ri-Laganth". How I said before, a akasha demiplane is like a reconstruction of the past, created by the collective subconscient memory, how it is remembered but not how happened really. Akasha demiplanes are visited by time-travelers as a lifesaver/backup to survive time paradoxes caused by other time-travelers (usually a uchronia changed by time-travelers isn't rewritten really but only become something like a akasha demiplane).

In a timeline Strand von Zarovich was a good guy who get the love of the girl, and his brother who was betrayed him and become vampire (and with a secondary curse, his victim's face). Thakok-An, the High Priestess templar from Dark Sun and the realm of Kalidnay is now out of the demiplane of dread, ruled again by Kalid-mad, the sorcerer-king, (but now as host within a female spinewyrn boy). His/her?) templar now use the spynewyrns like symbiotic biopunk crafts.
