Circlet of Authority vs. Diadem of Acuity

So... both give +2 to two skills. One is 7th, one is 8th. Think that means that Diplomacy and Intimidate are rated as less useful than Perception and Insight, or something more arcane?

Like maybe someone just said "We don't have enough items for these to be the same level", or someone failed to notice they were the same level, or once upon a time one or both had special abilities beyond raw item bonuses?

At least the Dynamic Belt (9th, +2 Acrobatics and Athletics) includes a daily power which explains it being higher level. +2 Sylvan Armor gives +2 Stealth and Athletics as an 8th also, but that's slightly more complicated to analyze.

Anyhow... think there's anything wrong with saying 'Any two skills at +2, 8th' (or 7th)?

Maybe its because the Diadem of Acuity is more useful to more types of characters?

You've got a point. Most characters are more interested in detecting lies and seeing sneaks than lying and bullying, overall.

Since the difference is so minor, being one level, that could be all the justification the designers had intented.

This is my guess. It's the same with the Bracers of Mighty Striking vs Bracers of the Perfect Shot. They both do essentially the same thing, but the Perfect Shot bracers are 1 level higher. I'm assuming this is because they work with Magic Missile and Eldritch Blast, while the Mighty Striking bracers don't work with any at-wills.

Good catch on the mighty striking / perfect shot. Hmm, bet there's a bunch like that.

I guess a level just doesn't matter that much - probably a tier (6/11/etc) would matter more. It just throws me off to have almost identical items that vary. I'll get over it.
