Cities I have used in the past

Dagger75

Epic Commoner
I realized I have all these cites and towns and what not from many different campaings and I don't have them written down anywhere. So here I go.

Dracanor - Metropolis Human City. Ruled by a a single king with many nobles and minor nobles surrounding the country side. This the "typical" D&D big city. I just liked the name.

Tel Rimeth - Ancient Elf/Human City. Ruled by Mages. City skyline is dotted with towers. At night some of the towers have strange glows coming from the windows. The town is ruled by the mages for the mages. They will not stop a necromancer from learing his trade as long as it doesn't effect the status quo (no undead roaming the streets, no kidnapping citizens for research) This would be town were a group of adventured need to go for any magic items or spells.

Safeport - Former pirate port but after many years has gone resepctable, sort of. Anything can be bought here. Blackmarket items are a little harder to come by but are available for the right price. The city is ruled by a Tribunal, 1 from selected by the guilds, 1 Selected from the people and 1 from the Noble families. In my game the people took elections seriously, the guild chose a person every 4 years (not a prestigous post) and the nobles found it tiresome. The basic alignment of the town is C/G bording on C/N. As long as you pay taxes and don't get caught, everything was fine.

The Sharn Empire -Capital - Alnaron- This was the oldest city in my old game. A huge sprawling city of 1 million people located in the desrt on the banks of a large river right on the sea coast as well. Very prosperous and technologically and magically advanced. This is the city where I had gunpowder orginate from. They also developed the knowledge on how to build portals (from Forgotten Realms). There magic rivaled the elves.
The Empire was ruled by 5 member Council. It was never known who would be chosen or when. The post was for life. The little secret was The Sharn Empire was actually ruled by Sharn. Sharn was a powerful Archmage Lich who was alive when the city was founded. This Empire was the main enemy in my game.

Well thats all I can think of for now. Feel free to steal any ideas.

I am willing to use a lot of that, but need some more details. Check out my "League of Assassins" thread. I am looking for aristocrats, monarchs and nobles to attend an auction. Please give me some specifics on some of the political leaders and who they would have accompanying them abroad. Also, if you have any organized assassin groups, special jewelry or gems that tie into your region's history, and/or anything else that would work well please feel free to tie it in. Thanks.

The City of 1000 Children

(Set in a post-nanotech-disaster future, actually Rio de Janeiro, but works well elsewhere). The City of 1000 Children is an ancient place, ruled over by an ageless family who survive due to a compact made with the Benevolant God. His massive statue watches over the city from the mountains above, constructed in ancient times. The city is so named as 1000 children must always be in the city at all times. The Order, frightening people who dress in black, ensure that this is the case at all times.
