"Hello, Valan. Let me just give you the following bit of advice -- don't let a human magistrate draft a contract agreement between gnomes and dwarves. He'll insist that all parties sign with their complete names, and between a hundred generations of dwarven clansmen on one side, and gnomish naming prowess on the other, you'll end up with a document that requires its own wagon."

HAHA! Is there a story behind that, or is it just something you heard on your travels?

"Alas, I speak from first-hand experience. Yet out of respect for the confidentiality of my clients, perhaps I should not elaborate further," replies Ragnikyr. "But what brings you to the Red Dragon?"

Tor responds with a smile.

"It's a convenient place to rest between adventures, and a good place to hear about the next crisis looming on the horizon. The company is good, as well. I'm hoping that my friend Nurlan will catch up with me here, as well. We were travelling together until very recently."

Gideon takes a brief nap in his room, then splashes some cold water on his face before coming back downstairs. Seeing that the adventurers he was speaking to earlier are still seated at their table, he walks over and takes up his seat. He looks around at Tor, Ragnikyr, Valan, and Kerrz. "Any news of work, good fellows?"

The door to the Inn opens and a slender, cloaked figure enters. After taking a moment to look around the common room, the person walks over to the bulletin board and hangs a notice. With that done, a pair of slender hands reach up to lower the cowl of the cloak, revealing a slightly attractive female with signs of elvish blood. She strides to the bar and has a few quiet words with Joe and, after dropping a small sack in front of him, heads upstairs without another word.

Anyone who goes to the bulletin board sees this notice now posted.

NOW HIRING

The Merchant Advisory Council of Ravensdale is looking to hire a party of independent investigators to look into a rash of caravan robberies on the Western Road between Ravensdale and Allimon. Any interested person should give their name and area of training to Joe. Those selected for the job will be contacted by a duly appointed representative of the Council for further negotiations.

"Hmm. That's interesting... I guess a team of investigators could use a strong arm, if nothing else. When I was in Monemvasia, we were theoretically investigating some stolen silver, but that sort of got lost amidst the carnage. At least, I lost track of it. What do you think, Joe? Could these people use a hand from a big lug handy with a spiked chain?"

OOC: Joe allready knows Tor's name, I would think. Unless, of course, his reputation as a bartender is ovverrated. ;)

OOC2: Just occurred to me that this is the 5th LEW adventure I've signed up for, and something needed to be investigated in each one! The adventures I'm DMing, on the other had, are a bit less cerebral.... Not sure what's up with that pattern. :)

"That does sound interesting. The Western Road is usually a bit safer than that -- last I heard, that is."

OOC: Let the Bardic Lore commence! :)

With a splutter and a snort, the drunken sot sleeping at the bar wakes up to the conversation at hand. "What's this about a road? To the west? And does anyone have any water? I feel like I'm back home in the wastes," he says with a dry and cracked voice.

After Joe revives the young man with some water, Kerrz walks over to the posting and takes a look. He returns to Joe with a smile on his face and says, "Work, eh? Well my friend, work I need. I've been dealing with raiders and robbers most of my life back home, sounds like something I'd be amply qualified for down here. You'll put in a good word for me eh Joe?"

With that, Kerrz returns to his seat, and sets about sobering himself up... atleast, sobering up from the alcohol. He relentless tries to convince a certain young barmaid that she is absolutely intoxicating.
