I'm actually curious about this too, and I was disappointed that more information wasn't given out about the cause of Llolth's withdrawal in the module. It's probably the main plotline of the accompanying modules, however -- unfortunately I'm not planning on reading those.

If anyone *has* read the first of the related novels and knows the answer, could you tell us here? It's probably worth putting up an extra spoiler warning for those who don't want the book ruined.

Well, the events in the module detail what one of those gods (Kiaransalee [sp?], in case that wasn't obvious from the cover) is doing to take advantage of the situation.
