City Of The Spider Queen Module

So as far as a plot hook, I can expand on the Randal Morn basic hook. Ill have a few Harpers accompanying Randal Morn and offer membership to the bard. The elves are already in the dales to investigate Drow activity so they are set, and the halfling loves adventure. My Dwarf Wizard NPC will do wonderfully as sort of an Underdark guide of sorts, though he hails from Citadel Adbar.

You're in perfect shape to bring these characters into the adventure; they all have a well-suited set of reasons for being there.

Has anyone heard any details on the box of miniatures that is supposed to go with this adventure? How many and what kind for instance?

I really hope WotC continues to put together sets of mini's for modules like this. As a DM, it should make my job much easier to get what I need/want for a given module.

Thanks for any info.

agreed and thanks again for the thread find. It helped me plan better.:)

Well, I'm not responsible for digging it up, but I did bump it. You're welcome! I was really kind of surprised when I originally started the first impressions thread that I was the first person to get to it, and that it got so many hits. I'm glad folks are finding it useful. Good luck with your game!

Thanks for the info Wolf. I have to go through my dungeon mags and modules now to find something to run my players through from level 4-10 :) .
Looking forward to the Spider Queen module.

I'm planning it for our next campaign, so it's a ways off, but I'm going to try and run them through Malhavoc's Banewarrens just before City of the Spider Queen. It's for 6th to 10th level.

This is Monte Cook's adventure, isnt it? Will I need any other Malhavoc books to run this?
Being that Monte Cook, Skip Williams and Bruce Cordell are my favorite designers I might look into this as well, thanks :)

Yep, it's one of his. And I haven't totally read through it all yet, but doing some searching, it only references his 2 Books of Eldritch Might. Mostly it's just spells and a few items, all of which should be relatively easy to replace. There's a few NPCs that have prestige classes from the book, but I don't think they even had stats, so they are probably pretty secondary.

He does flag all references to those books pretty clearly. And at least in a couple spots where a certain spell effect or such was pretty important, it looks like he explains the basic effects so you're not SOL without the book.

Also I did see a fully statted NPC that used his alternate Bard class from BoEM2, but he included a quick note on how to modify him to a standard Bard.

So it looks like he does use those two books, but makes it pretty easy to use without them. You might need to swap out some spells and items, but everything is flagged and at a glance looks rather swappable.

But mind you, like I said, I haven't read it in too much detail yet. I just did some searches on the characters he notates the references with as well as did some spot checking to see if there are references he didn't make (I didn't find any off hand).

{Edit}
I followed the link to the messageboards mentioned above, and there is this thread that addresses replacing magic items and such:

Thanks again Zjelani.
I visited that link you provided as well as many other threads in the Banewarrens forum. It gave me a few Ideas of where to put it all in the Realms.
I bought "The Banewarrens", "The Books Of Eldritch Might I and II", and Bruce Cordell's "If Thoughts Could Kill" (which I have been meaning to pick up anyway) today at my LGS.
So far it looks good though the weekend Ill have more time to look deeper into it all.
The Malhavoc stuff seems to be pretty solidly written though I am also a Core Rules kind of person. I definately wont use the "Monte" variant classes and I'm still considering newer spells and Items used in the Banewarrens.
In any event, 20 years or so as a DM makes modifying adventures such as this not too difficult.
Thanks again for the recommendation on the Banewarrens, It does look solid :) .
