Level Up (A5E) Clarification needed Ranger *STRIDE AND SEEK*

Huntedown

Villager
Me and one of my player got into a ruling arguments. For stride and Seek.

Because that Stride and Seek has a (2), my player assumed that It mean that he has 2 use of this ability. I argue that it only mean that he gain the second ability that he didn't choose.

My player point out how paranthese are use for Multi-attack and Reserve and signify how many more extra attack you gain or how much more exertion point you gain.

It refers to the iteration of the feature. First time, second time, third time, etc. Nothing more than that.

The feature itself tells you how many uses you have.

Thank you very much sir. The problem that arise came from the fact that the ability doesn't mention extra use like with channel divinity

That's because you cut the screenshot off before the bit where it tells you how often you can use it. Both features say "Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest."

I'm not sure I understand the confusion. The two options for this feature, Hunter's Target and Swift Feet both have "Once you use this feature, you can’t use it again until you finish a short or long rest" which seems pretty clear.

Stride and Seek allows you to pick which order you get them in, one at 2nd and one later at 5th, but regardless of the order, you get each feature 1/rest once you have them.
