Class Acts: Hierophant Druids and a surprise

At this point, I'm not convinced power source means anything other than a convenient way to lump together classes. So the Elemental keyword really doesn't evoke any sort of feeling. It's not like we had a dearth of "elemental" effects before.

That aside, I liked that it was epic-level content. Sure, most people play Heroic/Paragon, but it's nice to see that WotC remembers there's a third tier.

It resembles the bard of wolfstone article. I like them.

I also like the banners depicting which books are supported by that article. It seems DDI is getting better...

Part of me wonders if this book will be to the elemental power source what Heroes of Shadow is to the shadow power source. Note the section I underlined...

The flavor of the elemental power source as described in the article indicates a strong connection to the Elemental Chaos and the primordials. IIRC the Feywild has a strong connection to the arcane (I think that's mentioned in MotP), as shown in the recent Class Acts: Knight article.

The new Class Acts article is up:
Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page - Article (Hierophant Druids)

In it we get the first powers of the Elemental power source. Well, both Elemental and Primal, actually. I had assumed this power source had died a quiet death, so this is a pleasant surprise to me. :D
We don't know if it's a power source. At the moment, Elemental seems to be a keyword to mark powers that have different effects based on the four classic elements.

Maybe they should have an "Under" power source for powers like that 22nd level daily. It's objectivly worse than feywild sojurn for crying out loud, it's a 22nd level daily standard while sojurn is a 10th level encounter move! I mean, who thought that power was viable?

On a different note, I really liked the fact that the article includes a new Epic Destiny. Haven't had a chance to read it yet, so no idea how good the powers or ED are, but its nice to see some support for Epic Play. Though, really there needs to be support on the DM side of the equation. Still though, it at least suggests that they are not turning a completely blind eye to the epic tier.

Looking at the flavor text, to me it's obvious that drawing power from the Elemental Chaos (with the risk of transformation into a primordial) means that you have access to the Elemental power source.
(Btw, Elemental is also a keyword to denote a type of creature.)

To put it another way, it fits nicely into the following pattern:
Power Source -- Associated Plane
Divine -- Astral Sea
Arcane -- Feywild
Shadow -- Shadowfell
Primal -- Spirit World, Material Plane
Psionic -- Far Realm
Martial -- Physical World, Material Plane
Elemental -- Elemental Chaos, Abyss

I like it. I hope to see more Elemental material in the future.

I think that a previous poster is on to something with speculation about there being a Heroes of the Elemental Chaos in the future.

Thanks for the info... I don't have access to DDI.
