Class less DND system

Something could be done along the same lines rolemaster uses, its not quite classless but it gets the job done. In RM, class simply determines cost for skills, the figher pays less for fighting skills, (in 3e we could BaB, Combat Feats etc.) but pays more for stealthy skills and even more for magic skills. The class simply determines how much you pay. The rational is a class is chosen based on what you have a natural talent and inclination for, but it does not preclude you learning the abilities of other classes. It does however mean that you will never be as good a spell caster as someone who has a natural talent (as represented by the fact they took the magic user class) for it. Also, RM hands out develpoment points (used to buy everything) based on statistics, with the option of breaking it down so that the points you get from strength, have to be used on strength skills. This further reinforces the natural talent/bent aspect of the system.

I thought for a while about seeing if this would work D20 but have not put the work into it yet to see.
