Classless D20

I know the title is a bit odd for the title but anyhow, I have recently found the D(liberation)20 site where a classless D20 system is located. The first part about is that it actually works.

As many of us are aware the classed D&D system has flaws, the classes are very pigeon holed.
If you try to make a knight character then you would choose a fighter but the fighter has only 2 skill points per level and the skill KNOWLEDGE(NOBLES & NOBILITY) and DIPLOMACY are cross classed skill, as such they are very expensive to take. You can offset that sightly with a feat making KNOWLEDGE skills class ones but then thats a feat.

Please do not mistake my criticisms, the D&D system is fast, simple but complex enough to enjoy a game with and I have done since it came out. But the classless system offers the oppotunity to build characters that fit a concept fully.
You can powergame( as you can with any system) but you will suffer for doing so.

Check it out, the PDF is free and although there are some bits which take a fair bit of reading, I believe its worth it. Let me know what you think.

The DMG does have rules for altering classes so giving a fighter more skills and skill points and working that all out is not out of the qestion of the rules.

How does this compare with Buy the Numbers? THat is the best classless d20 system I've ever seen.

Or, you can just take levels in the "Knight" class from PH2, or the "Samurai" or "Swashbuckler" from CW, or even the "Paladin" from the PH. Each of these are takes on the Knight archetype that fits better than the "Fighter" with Cross Class skills. There's a reason there are over forty base classes in DND v.3.5, it's because the designers realize that not everyone who wants to play a Knight, wants to play a "Paladin" (the easiest Knight archetype in the PH), but some, actually, want to play a "Knight" (the aforementioned class from PH2).

I've been playing with D(liberation)20 for a while now and its good although a bit too table/number intensive for my taste. But as a way to adjust and finetune classes and characters it works
