Clay Golems & "Cursed Wounds"

Hand of Vecna

First Post
Wounds inflicted by the Clay Golem in assorted versions of D&D don't heal naturally & resist curative magic. And the Clay Golem in the M&M book has Incurable for its damage.

Where did this idea come from? I don't recall hearing of it in the legends of the Golem of Prague, though I do know D&D's creators took inspiration from, well, everywhere. Does anyone know a specific source?

It is a curious ability.

Edit: Though curious abilities are sometimes tied to golems.

In some incarnations of the legend of the Maharal's golem, the golem has powers that can aid it in its tasks. These include invisibility, a heated touch, and the ability to use the Maharal's walking stick to summon spirits from the dead.

I'll do some research when I get home, but how about the other curious abilities from the original AD&D golems:

Clay golem: haste
Stone golem: slow
Iron golem: poisonous breath
