Cleric Archers?

I think fighters are a bit less complicated, so i'd probably go with an arcane archer if I ever was one.

Not as good maybe as I-always-win-init-and-crit-with-every-shot-power-attacking-at-30-foot-range-4-arrows-on-my-bow-at-a-time-sneak-attacking-non-core-prestige-class-non-core-feat-very-specific-condition-powerless-archers with uber magical gear...

I had a cleric archer play in my campaign. He made quite the archer, actually. However, the party suffered when someone was injured or fallen. The cleric would have to spend one or more rounds making his way to the injured/downed to heal them. After the healing, he had to try to move out of range (usually with a double move). He had to get out of the threat of melee lest his bow be sundered.

It's for moments like these that you should have someone take the Leadership feat and have a specific-purpose party medic tagging along.

Let's not have the class that can heal do the healing, let's spend a feat to get healers who are of that class to heal!

For that matter, why doesn't our blaster mage get Leadership so he can get a follower who will cast evoction spells?

Blast spells tend to be more fun than healing.
