Let's cuss and discuss the different playtest clerics!

First, a quick poll for the playtesters: Which cleric did you enjoy playtesting the most...the battle-loving Cleric of Moradin, or the bookish and devoted Cleric of Pelor?

Uhhhh, no. Nuh-no. No. No. No. Two Clerics enter, TWO clerics leave.

There is absolutely no reason the game cannot sustain, in both flavor and crunch, both...and several others I would hope.

[EDIT: But, now I see this is a "poll for playtesters" and that it is simply asking what you "like" best...Soooo, I'll be shutting up now. :heh:/EDIT]

I voted for the Cleric of Pelor as I felt that the Cleric of Moradin doesn't feel like a Cleric, but rather a Fighter/Cleric or Paladin.

B-)

I happened to play both clerics in our playtest (we were 1 player short of full group).

The defender cleric was more fun. I loved blocking kobold attacks with my shield.

The laser cleric was far more effective on attacks and healing. If/when we start a game with D&DNext I'm going to beg someone else to play a laser/healer cleric, but I will refuse to do so because it just wasn't fun for me.

I like Shorty the Paladin in Cleric Drag. Pelor-boy is a better healer and fun in his own way, but by Hammer and Tongs, it feels good to guard as a healer.
I can not wait to see the domain rules and all the wide range of clerics we will see. Stealthy heals will be fun to play as well.

I don't really care for these new pew-pew casters at all. Even so, I still liked the "laser" cleric better than the "hammer."

The Cleric of Pelor just felt more like a cleric...healing the wounded, blasting the enemy with radiant power, turning the undead, all that. The Cleric of Moradin felt more like a paladin to me (and this is NOT a complaint...it felt like a very good, fun, and balanced paladin.)

Once they find a way to stop the laser-spamming, I will be a genuine fan.

The Priest of Moradin

Thumps the puny human unconscious with a crusader's strike (subdual damage) and borrow his healing kit (cause otherwise the party can't benefit from short rests. And somebody forgot to prequip any other character with a healing kit.

Being conscientious, the dwarven priest will reimburse the human cleric 25 GP for the material costs of making a new healing kit, plus d4 sp for pain and suffering.

I allowed wisdom checks to bandage wounds without the healer´s kit.

And the moradin cleric really helped the wizard surviving with his heal and the shield ability. Though I have the impression, both should leave.
