If you're allowed to use Complete Adventurer, take a long hard look at the Shadowbane Stalker. As written it's for Lawful Good guys only, but perhaps your DM could relax that requirement, if you have a pressing need to be Chaotic.

Alternately, Rich Burlew has written a Divine Trickster (clearly an Arcane Trickster variant) which looks fun.

Consider the Cloistered Cleric (from Unearthed Arcana) for your Cleric levels, since the skill points are fantastic.

Also consider being Human (or Changeling) and taking the feat Able Learner (from Races of Destiny), so you don't have to worry about wasting points buying cross-class skills.

Finally, it's not quite a Rogue, but a Swordsage / Cleric / Ruby Knight Vindicator (from Tome of Battle) could be a lot of fun. You'd need to blow two feats on Devoted Spirit maneuvers (one strike/counter/boost and one stance), but the syngergy is fantastic: Swordsage grants Wisdom to AC in light armor! As a Rogue/Cleric, that's perfect for you. :)

How much Rogue do you want? And how much Cleric do you want? And most importantly, what sources are available to you?

Cheers, -- N

thanks for the info. all books by wizards of the coast are available for use.
Wohooo!

How do you imagine your char. Roguish sneaker with some utility spells or cleric of a sneaky god?

Or something totally different?

Cloistered cleric is a very useful base class variant, since giving up the armour and dropping a HD type isn't much of a penalty for a multi-class rogue and more skill points are always nice, but be aware you lose out on BAB as well - something you will be very short of if you're planning on ever getting into combat. Or put another way - Don't get involved in melee combat with this build. Hide then Snipe / Heal / Buff to your hearts content.

Until you are capable of casting Divine Power.

Can you be a little more specific as to the type of character you want to play? How much rogue and how much cleric?

Honestly, if you're just going for uber-power, less rogue, more cleric is probably the way to go. The Trickery Domain is pretty helpful here.

Here's a Cleric-ish build that focuses on the Death Attack ability to dispatch of the opposition:

Archivist 4/Rogue 1/Blackflame Zealot 5/Strifeleader 10

The base death attack DC is 29 (10 base, +10 Strife Leader, +5 Blackflame Zealot, +4 greater death attack) plus your Intelligence modifier. Grab an Assassin Dagger for another +1, and take Ability Focus: Death Attack to reach a base of 32+Int! You're also casting as a 13th lvl archivist.

Either way...just my 2 cp

Human Rogue 1/Cloistered Cleric X (buy Search & Disable Device cross class)

Kobold domain

Dwarvish cleric (use stonecutting on stonework traps and Find Traps for others), PrC into Church Inquisitor (which has Search as an in-class skill)

Well, actually our has party a rogue. But player is away alot. I'd not like to make him so useless but act as backup rogue when he's gone. I also prefer spells as casters are so much more fun in my opinion. Therefore, mostly I need search/disarm/open (playing WLD, which is murder without rogue). I also played just mage so its outta question and éxtra healing & such cant be bad anyway.
