Clerical Contingency ideas wanted

What about Ethereal Jaunt or Etherealness ?
Renders him invisible and able to go through walls, but he will be still near the action if he chooses to.
So that he can choose freely to stay and bring the assassin down or to flee and gather more servants for the fight.

He could also use some buff spells while ethereal I think.

Max on Contingency is level 6 - Jaunt is level 7 and pure Etherealness is level 9

good points. any suggestions? Anything that can block line of effect of an anti-magic field? Word of Recall to get him out of danger?

Since you're using miracle, you might be able to go beyond the confines of contingency with DM permission. You could attach a higher level spell to your contingency, perhaps. Your "contingency" might allow attached spells to be cast at range, like wall of stone, dominate person, or slay living. The 2E spell chain contingency from Tome of Magic allowed this for wizards if you want a reference.

If it's base contingency, I always suggest the immediate-action power word or finger snap triggering, in a cleric's case, a word of recall. When all else fails, or when there's no way out, it's always best to not be there.

I also recommend having some emergency potions and/or scrolls waiting for you wherever your word of recall takes you.

Thanks - I am the DM. So, sometimes I want to be conscious of doing something that would be unbalancing in terms of spell use. For example, the party made good use of an anti-magic field last time out - the evil high priest would not know that, as the party had not used it before.

So, would having the 3 pact spells and a ring of counterspells (with greater dispel magic), plus a minion cleric who cast Shield Other upon him be enough long-duration buffs where a contingency vs anti-magic be something where it would look like I metagamed it as a DM?
