Clerics with Access to Permenancy

NOTICE--> since 3.5 permanent spells cast upon the caster CAN NOT BE DISPELLED ANYMORE.

Dispelling in combat is the most useful tactic in larger battles. Preparing to counterspell too.

Savage Species includes an extension to the Permancy table for its new spells. It seems to me that the other splat books should have done something similar.

They have. Not all, though. Tome & Blood did, maybe Magic of Faerûn too (not sure for that one).

Um, really?

From the 3.5 SRD of Permenancy:

"This application of permanency can be dispelled only by a caster of higher level than you were when you cast the spell."

and...

"Spells cast on other creatures, objects, or locations (not on you) are vulnerable to dispel magic as normal."

Seems pretty straight forward to me. It can be done. But in your average encounter. A party is not going to run up on many casters that higher level than them. If they do, they have a heck of a lot more to worry about than whether or not he is going to dispel their permenancy!

Is it a valid tactic to hit a mage with a targetted dispel, sure it is! Is that mage going to whimper a bit if some of those permenant spells are dropped? You betcha. But thats the chance you take for casting permenancy. Its not supposed to be undispellable. Its a calculated risk you take when you cast the spell.

Spell Immunity doesn't work against Dispel Magic anyway.
I stand corrected. Spell Immunity gives Spell Resistance to those spells and Spell Resistance does not work against Dispel Magic. Good call there.
