Clockwork/Steam constructs

I was thinking about creating clockwork/steam constructs (inspired by the "Iron Beasts"/"Metal Faces"of the Thief II computer game); yet the Steam and Sorcery book does not discuss such creatures in any details. I was thinking of changing some existing constructs (shiel guardian and iron golem) into steam-powered varities, but has anyone created their own steam "robotics"?

Sure have. What you have there is pretty much what I have used. There are several other kinds of steam-powered mechs out there, too. Run a search on "warjack" and seek the Iron Kingdoms website. They have a steam-powered machine statted there for you.

As for creating "robotics" myself, I *could* use the mecha rules from BESM d20, but that's really too much work for little gain. There are several new settings coming out that are steampunk related; keep an eye out for them.

Okay, a list here -

OGL Steampunk (Mongoose) has very detailed rules for steam powered creations, however it isntended as a full system, not something that is dropped into a standard D&D campaign.
Steam & Steel (E. N. Publishing) has some decent rules for some constructs - this works well in conjunction with Sorcery & Steam.
Artificial Hero's Handbook (Ronin Arts) has rules for Construct PCs
Quintessential Gnome (Mongoose) has rules that are semi-pseudo-sort of similar to those in OGL Steampunk, but are intended to be dropped into a D&D campaign.

You might want to try my Construct Mechanus for ideas.

I look every now and again, hoping that all four titles will become available as a bundle. It looks interesting, but I would prefer a single big book to a bunch of small purchases.

I have been using The Artificial Hero's Handbook to good effect in my OGL Steampunk game.
