Coating a weapon

with alchemists fire, are there ay rules for it? i cant seem to find any

Nope there is not.

It takes coating someone in a pint of the stuff to cause a D6. Are you sure it is a good idea to risk setting your armor's padding / cloths on fire for a chance to do splash / torch level fire damage to a struck foe for one round?

Alchemist's fire ignites on exposure. By the time you've coated your weapon with it, you'll have burned your hand off.

What you want are the Alchemical Weapon Capsules from Complete Adventurer. They allow you to coat your weapon in various substances.

Quickflame coats your sword in an oil that ignites on contact with air, allowing you to deal extra fire damage for a round.
