CoC gun prices

absurdum

First Post
I'm starting up a new campiagn in this this wonderful game, setting in modern day england. And all my players want scpecific guns, espceially desert eagles and glocks. It's just that I can find the prices for these weapons, and the $500 that the book says for pistols seems waaay to cheap for such powerful weapons, if any has or where I can get more acuate prices for these guns it would be apreciated.

G...G....Gunz!

For all you gun nuts out there (like me). :)

Guns aren't cheap, especially if you're looking at getting anything that's imported.

Your standard .40cal Glock is going to run you a good USD 600.

You can probably get prices online. Some gun shops list their prices on their websites, especially ones in "gun friendly" states like Texas, etc. However, my advice is not to sweat being TOO worried about accurate pricing. The income and starting wealth tables are balanced with the book-listed prices.

I would recommend either sticking with the prices in the book, or using the simple weapons table (generic 9mm, etc.) and let the players just say they own whatever model they like for flavor without changing the stats. I guess it really depends on how much difference guns are going to make in your campaign. Keep in mind that 20th-21st century UK has fairly strict gun laws, too. You might want to restrict availibility and/or raise prices to reflect that, depending on you vision of the campaign. Just my $0.02.

You may have your answer right there...

Who's going to have a Desert Eagle (and ammo!) in modern England? I don't know if you can even find .50 pistol ammo in a gun-friendly US state like Texas without really looking.

A 9mm Glock is just a 9mm pistol. Generic stats should cover it just fine. It's in no way a super weapon, just a nice gun. In England, I'd expect a smuggled gun to be either very expensive or used in a grisly crime. (Ooh, plot hook!)

A Desert Eagle is a pretty ludicrous gun, the kind that most people can't shoot reasonably. Only a pretty big guy can even get his grip around the handle. Anyway, if you actually shot someone, the authorities would have little doubt you did it; they'd only have to find you and your one-of-a-kind pistol.

Well, we're assuming that the people carrying these weapons are not law-abiding citizens of the UK.
Well the guy with the desert eagles isn't a law abiding citizen. But I'm assuming that they are not imposible to acquire in the UK (anyone see snatch?). He's a computer crimainal, hacks and does black market trading over the net. He is also quit paranoid that someone is out to get him. This is how and why he has this weapon. But good point on the laws, if he ever shoots it and gets cought he's in trouble, plus he's weak, I'll probably make him fall over when he shoots it.
Btw I was wondering what would be the minimum strenght required for shooting some of these weapons.

The last time we played Delta Green, we went out and got a bunch of gun magazines and placed our orders from there. Since most of us were playing government ops, price wasn't an issue. One of the nice things about doing a contemporary campaign. Something else we did was to send away for all these survivalist, outfitter and knife catalogs. Anyone monitoring our mailbox would have thought we were starting up our own army. :)

I don't know about England but in Texas (Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico) you can get one at a gun show pretty easy.
In California it's not so easy, in Cal you can only get a 6" .44 or .357 Eagle, but there is a trick to the Desert Eagle, the barrels are made to be interchangeable.
So you can get the 10" barrel the .50 AE one or even the .440 Cor-Bon one and just stick it on lickidy split.
The .44, .50 AE, .440 Cor-Bon bolt assembly can all work together.
I think the barrels are like around 300+ bucks each.
BTW I think .440 cor-bon is better then the .50 AE just marginally.
Most of the people in Cal that really want guns though just goto another state buy it and bring it back.

Yeah that gun is really really big, way to big for most people, but even alot of service pistols are to big for a lot of people.

BTW I know it's off topic a bit but has anyone seen the automatic conversion for glocks, scary stuff.
Check this out and tell me if you'd let people use it in your game? It is real after all.

I have seen similar convertions for Berettas years ago, but this one is like $350 dollars and fits onto the back of any model glock.
Their trying to sell it to law enforcement, but I think there are safety issues.

I know that site. ;)

If you haven't been to these before check them out, it's well worth it.

The first one is probably one of the better ones on the net (when it's working), I really like that site.

As far as "games" go this is probably the best site on the net because it has lots and lots of prices of firearms.
It's well worth taking a look at if your looking for basic gun prices for a game.
