The Glock 18 was full auto, made by the factory. No conversion needed :-)
(You can't legally convert guns anymore anyway, so it doesn't matter)

For the original poster, tell your hacker (almost said Decker :-) to buy a nice little smg in 9mm. Comparable size, ammo will be easier and it looks cooler.

England's a very gun-unfriendly nation. Start carrying side by side shotgun's, they're more destructive anyway :-)

When I GM for Cyberpunk, I always keep a copy of the Guns 'n' Ammo Annual handy. It's basically a big magazine of most of the guns currently in production, who makes them, and how much they retail for. Sometimes they even throw in some stuff to read for those people who just "get it for the articles". They print a new one every year. Don't know if you can find it in the UK.

Well the guy with the desert eagles isn't a law abiding citizen. But I'm assuming that they are not imposible to acquire in the UK (anyone see snatch?).

Remember Snatch is a movie. But your right it is not impossible to buy guns in the UK, otherwise you wouldn't have drug-dealers shooting each other in the streets, as does happen.

But it is not something most citizens would be able to do, or even think of doing, unless they were already involved in criminal activity, and most probably violent criminal activity.

So I wouldn't allow any starting character to have one, unless they were an bank-robber, drug-dealer or working for a government agency which would allow such a thing.

If he isn't a government agent then be sure to make the players life hell, whenever you feel like. For example nearly every club and many pubs in large towns will search people before they enter, if he is carrying then he will be detained. Police will probably all ready have a file on him and he might come under survielance or be raided, firearms offences are taken very seriously in this country.

If he every uses it or is even seen with it, expect the police to respond rapidly with a very heavy hand, ie rapid firearms responce unit, who will very likely shoot him dead rather than risk injury to themselves or one of the public.

Britain is a bit behind the USA in regards to 'no-lethal' weapons and so don't expect to be hit by a 'bean-bag gun' or similair they will just shoot you. They will probably feel real bad about it afterwards as it usually means they will be suspended pending an inquiry, but that doesn't mean they will hesitate.

I'll assume your talking about my post.
The Glock 18 'select fire' can fire 3 round bursts, the divice I'm talking about is fully automatic and works with All Glock models, all of them.

In re: Snatch

Bullet-toothed Tony (Vinnie Jones) is a fairly large man (at least for British standards). I could easily see him using a Desert Eagle.
He probably has an effective d20 strength of 12+, and his size allows him to palm Mr. D-E quite easily.

However, as DMaple said, England is a very non-tolerant country in regards to guns. In fact, nearly every kind of firearm is banned. The ban comes after a long campaign launched by the families of those killed by the gunman Thomas Hamilton, who shot dead 16 children and their teacher in the gymnasium at Dunblane Primary School on March 13, 1996.

The rapid-responce firearms unit aren't to be toyed with. Think, LAPD with an overall more pleasant demeanor. :) That's a great element that should be especially exploited in a UK-based game.

DMaple, I absolutely love your response.

You've just made my day. :D

One of the players in my group is a ... gun geek? He knows a lot of it, and one interesting thing he pointed out: Unlike as in most games (Shadowrun comes to mind), Pistols are often much more expensive than sporting rifles and similar weapons. (that are actually more lethal than most pistols, but cannot be concealed and aren`t very "handy")
And I can imagine (though I am not sure) that it is everywhere much easier to get sporting rifles ...

Yeah, it's really hard to go on a mass shooting spree with a bolt-action rifle. Pulling out twin Baretta 93's is a much more viable option, but it'll cost ya. However, as the saying goes,

"There's no mix-up a shotgun won't fix up." ;)
