A thought occured to me when reading the research skill: shouldn't the research skill, if you make a check, give a +2 bonus on certain skills (craft possibly). Here's my reasoning:
Say the DM allowed you to use craft to make a molotov cocktail (and you have the materials needed), yet, you have no ranks in the appropriate craft skill. Let's say the DC is 15, you have 16 Int and take 10 (13). You fail.
Now, you first do some research, and on the Internet / somewhere else you find the principle behind the MC or how the ingredients should be mixed. IMO, this should give you a +2 bonus to the skill, ensuring you succeed at the check.
With access to the Internet, almost everything can be found, and you'd get a plus on a lot of skills...
