Thanks for the corrections, but my point stands; .380, 9mm, .38 special and .357 magnum all have bullets of exactly the same caliber/diameter; .357 of an inch. Unless the definition of caliber has changed and now includes the bullet's length as well...

You are really close, but not quite.

Bullet Sizes

38 S&W, 38 Super Automatic, 9mm x 17mm and 9mm x 19mm are .355
9mm x 18mm is .364
.357 SIG, .38 Special and .357 Magnum are .357

I'm a reloader (and handloader) and use mostly pistols in the ~9mm range so I'm pretty confident in the numbers above.

I think that's the Makarov (Russian cartridge).
