Cohort Familiars... Revisited

I've considered dropping the Improved Familiar feat in favor of Leadership. With that caveat: When taking Leadership, if you have already a class ability granting you a companion (familiar, mount, animal companion, etc.) with special, class-granted abilities, you may choose to have your cohort serve as that companion (if applicable) in exchange for the follower parts of the Leadership benefit.

So, if you want a pseudodragon to tag along with you, you take the Leadership feat to have one as a cohort. If you're a wizard or a sorcerer, you have the choice between getting followers or making that cohort your familiar.

If, as a cohort, you chose a dragonne instead, you would not have the possibility to make it your familiar (too big of a creature), but you could, on the other hand, make it your mount if you are a paladin.

That is an excellent idea...
