My thief lvl 9 wants to get a Dragonne cohort, but u have to be immune to thier roar. So i wanted to get someone to make a specific item, a helmet which gives immunity to roar and polymorph once per day into a Dragonne (just cause). how much do u think this would cost?

I would probably post this in house rules. You'll get more responses that way. Maybe a moderator will move it for you.

If you did use such a helm and had a dragonne cohort, what's going to protect your fellow party members from the roar? It has a range of 120ft, and that seems problematic...

Off-hand I'd price such a helm at 15,000gp. And I'd have blindness/deafness and polymorph self as prerequisite spells, and would also give anyone wearing such a helm a -2 penalty to Listen checks, just for flavor.

Note that polymorphing into a dragonne doesn't allow you to roar like one, as that's a supernatural ability, but you could fly.

Uh... you might want to reread that part under the Leadership section of the DMG.

You don't have to be immune to their roar in order to get one as a cohort. Rather, when you take a Dragonne as a cohort, you become immune to their roar.

That makes sense (from a gameplay standpoint, though it makes no sense to me logically). I still wonder about the other party members though.. guess they'll need earplugs. I also noticed that dragonnes count as 10th level cohorts, even though they're only CR7. You'll need to be at least 11th level to recruite such a cohort. (and probably will need to be 12th level)

u sure u become immune to it when u get it? i can get it at lvl 9, i have +5 cha mod

and i have no party atm, its just a guild, a new one for that matter. pretty much a fear thing... and fun

No matter what your charisma mod is, your cohort can never be higher level than you, so you have to be at least 11th level to get a dragonne.

Take a look at the footnote about the Dragonne at the bottom right of page 45 in the DMG. It states: "**The leader is immune to the dragonne's roar."

Seems pretty clear to me.
