Col_Pladoh? Original Kobolds, canine or lizard-like?

Apologies for this dilatory response.

When I added kobolds to the list of humanoids, I thought of them as being greenish of complexion, as they tended to be forest-dwelling critters. They were dog-like of visage,

SCS III got the green skin all right, but he added scales likely because green = lizard. I always ignored the scales, and never considered the kobolds as being reptillian.

They do have little horns as far as I am concerned, those prtrusions from their foreheads like the horns of a baby goat.

As far as complexion, it seems fine to me that those koboldselling mainly in subterranean habitat have an indigo or blue cast.

think that covers it, but holler if I've missed something ;)

Cheerio,
Gary

Where has Kobold Curry Chef been lately? I haven't seen him since the move.

He's been around. I saw him post on one of the name change threads. He had to take the spaces out of his name to make it fit but then Piratecat or someone offered to change it back after they expanded the number of characters that you could use in your name.

Cheerio,

Thank you, Col!

Now all we need is a d20 version that doesn't erroneously claim they are "(Reptilian)"as they have in the MM3E and we are all set.

Another myth set to rest by going to the correct source!

Huzzah, Sir! Huzzah!

Plenty of intelligent mammals,

Too easy, won't touch this one. ;)

Why not create new ones and leave the old ones the way they were? Shall I change my name to Poster Rav and insist that I am the true Rav? I believe they just screwed it up and do not see why it shouldn't be corrected. Just IMHO. :)

Hey, I like the new kobolds... I was a little surprised to see them as they were in the 3E MM, but I found that they worekd much better in my campaign world. (No offense, Gary!)

Qoute:
These evil dwarf-like creatures behave much like goblins, but are less powerful.
- (Basic/Original) D&D (blue softcover book), 1979 printing.

Kind of supports DarwinofMind's theory about being "cave goblins". Col_Pladoh, I really must ask, how does this description lead one to visions of kobolds being greenish of complexion, as they tended to be forest-dwelling critters?

The AD&D1E Monster Manual is, as has been pointed out, likewise vague in its descriptive text, though the illustration seems to suggest a bit of a canine look.

Qoute:
These small, evil dog-like men usually live underground. They have scaly rust brown skin and no hair.
- D&D Basic Rulebook (red cover. Otus cover art) 1981 printing.

Green? Woodsy? Hmmm....

I think that settles it ladies and gentlemen, "small, evil dog-like men" it is. Thanks for playing! :D

pathetic lifeforms ...

The ability to speak does not mean you are intelligent ... [Qui-Gon said something to that effect]
