Colossal Red Dragon - Hands On

This thing came today. It is HUGE, easily dwarfing my Gargantuan black. It will strike fear into your players. You will not be able to bring it to a game session and expect it to be hidden until the big fight. This is quite possibly the most awesome mini I've seen, including that 2 foot tall beast I've seen floating around. It has translucent wings, detachable flames and a mouth big enough to swallow an ogre. In miniature play it cost 1000 points. Truly epic in proportions. Anyone have theirs yet?

I took the wizards box out of its shipping box for a few moments, felt awed by it, and then I put it back into the shipping box. Can't say why, really. I was a bit overwhelmed.

I got mine last week. I pre-ordered it on Amazon months ago, so I did not pay the hefty price. It is beautiful. The black dragon is amazing too.

My DM (we alternate weeks and campaigns) pulled this baby out last night. Fortunately we didn't have to fight it. We all did pass it around and study it though. It's very, very big. "Miniature" is an oxymoron. Compared to the minis it is simply massive. By itself it is still the size of a chicken.

I got mine and my Black Dragon this week- I'd say its more the size of a skinny turkey than a chicken.

I may have to buy a second one though...a good buddy of mine who is currently underemployed has eyed mine quite lustfully. What the hey- Christmas is coming up!

From your pic, I don't think that paintjob justifies the $75 pricetag. I'll still go with the McFarlane dragons for now, though the GargBlue is tempting.

Without comparing them side by side, I can't say.

But, for the record, I paid $42.50 from Buy.com. The packaging (the lair) is nice, and it's got the DDM stat card, variant rules and the lair map. Plus it's on a base that's 8X8 squares. Quite fun.

The McFarlane dragons, while a better value in a lot of ways, are at most Gargantuan, not collosal.

My friend also just got one. I will say it is remarkably big, and when you put a medium sized mini next to it, you really notice the size difference.

As a bonus, its a good thing to use for buildings...put it in the middle of the board and players can treat it like terrain.
