Combining World Works Games' Terrain with Fat Dragon Games' Terrain

So, I've been playing around with Hirst Arts Blocks for a while now. They are extremely cool, make fantastic durable beautiful structures, BUT they are extremely labor intensive and time consuming. So, I've gone looking for other methods of making terrain for playing and just fun. Stumbled across World Works Games and Fat Dragon Games during the Relief Download time at Drivethrurpg and started putting some together. (Fun! I like crafts that occupy the hands but free the mind!). Here's the question though that can't be answered with my minimal construction of both companies' terrains:

How well do they mix and match? I like what I see in both companies catalog. Some stuff I don't. Want to use both companies stuff.

Has anyone used both? How did it go?

Thanks for your time!

I'd just caution you not to underestimate how intensive the WWG products can be (haven't tried Fat Dragon). They're high quality, but in particular cutting out the pieces is extremely time consuming.

Of course, their more recent stuff works with some automated craft cutters... But that only helps you if you have one of those automated craft cutters.

They work fine together. You just have to make sure the sizing is the same. WWG had some terrain that is sized for MageKnight/HeroClix, but as long as you don't have that, you're fine.

I do it all the time.

Both are good, and can work well together - I have been using the WWG Streets tiles to mount buildings from FD and from Dave Graffam Models - Graffam's models are building exteriors only, but are good for bulking out a cityscape. The Westgate building is good, I modified a WWG Canal tile, so the building arcs over the canal, with the optional gate becoming a watergate.

I especially like the look of FD's recent Windmill model next to the WWG Canals - it puts me in mind of the Netherlands.

WWG generally has better textures, FD are easier and faster to put together, but they work fairly well together. Then again, I like cityscapes, and a mix of styles adds diversity.

The Auld Grump

I use them together all the time, and with Graffam's models like AuldGrump suggested bellow. Me? I'm more of a Dungeon player as far as what I construct, and I mostly use FDG's dungeons as the base with pieces from WWG and others to enhance it.

Just make sure you use the same scale, and it will all work great together. One of the reasons I really love Paper terrain.

Thanks for all the replies. I've made buildings. Now I'm moving on to the FDG dungeons to see how they compare in time, expense, feel and utility to my Hirst Arts blocks.
