The real question is: will they divide the rules board into 3e and 4e. Seems they might have to.

And is ENWorld going to default to 4e with 3e sub boards or the other way around. I am sure there will be plenty of intertubes for both but will be interesting to see what management does.

When 3e came out, unless my memory has failed me, I seem to recall that there was a time that they tried keeping a 2e section and a 3e section, but it didn't last long at all (or it was being debated, or something like that)

Dear 4e forum denizens,

Come back... We miss you!

Was it something we said? Was it something we didn't do for you? We can make it just as good as it was before! We're willing to try... are you?

Love,

General and Rules posters

Dearest General and Rules Forums,

My love is fickle; I have a wandering eye, but I think you knew that when I first glanced your way oh those many many many years ago. So, yes, I am enjoying the love of this younger forum.

But, fear not! I do occasionally give a glance out your way. For I am not completely emotionless nor am I without sentimental longings, I do remember well all the long nights I spent in your company. And, since I do find myself occasionally with you at night, I have quietly given you some recent notches on my post count.... for old times sake, after all, the love of a familiar forum may not always be as exciting as a sexy new younger one, but there is that warming comfort of familiarity, trust, and security.

But when all is said and done, you are the bulk of my notches, and, like any stray, once my itch has been scratched, I shall return to you with more of my focused attention ... if you will have me then.

Love,

Poster

Edit: Please note that the response letter is addressed to the forums and not to the posters of said forums, despite the fact that they are the ones that wrote the initial letter. This was done on purpose 'cause, let's face it, I am a cold-heartless S.O.B.

Well I'm no expert but since this site grew out of Eric's '3rd Edition News' page I doubt that 2ed was ever more than a blip on the radar. However I wasn't on the forums back then.

I'll be shocked if ENW doesn't become a de-facto 4ed site, but I'm sure there's plenty of space on the board roster for some 3ed love.

The exerpts have been a bit content light lately, or so it seems to me. I have some hopes that the weapons excerpt wil be more interesting than the skill challenge excerpt.

Ultimately, though, what I really want is enough information to start planning out my character. For that, I'll probably need to wait until mid June.

++, but since I'm DMing I won't even get to make a character then. :(

Hivemind?

There's a 300+ post topic on the use of a skill that hasn't been defined yet. We are RPGers, we'll argue about everything.

Nuh-uh. ;)

Dear General & Rules,

I'm so sorry I've been neglecting you - I promise to make it up to you after June 7th. I predict we'll be spending lots of time together, even if things may get a little fraught sometimes.

You're the 20 on my die, baby!

Tallarn.

Well, me too, but lack of a campaign has never stopped me from putting together a character. I'm optimistic that way. I've got at least half a dozen 3.x characters ready that have never seen action, and by ready I mean planned out for each level 1 to 20, and sometimes higher.

It's still being worked out. Our goal is to make sure this remains a place where any edition of the game can be discussed. If you have any suggestions or requests, feel free to post in Meta.

What is this "General and Rules" you speak of? Oh, huh, there's this whole other website buried behind the excellent 4E news site I've been coming to for the last several months. I wonder if it's any good?
