Come heckle the Writer formerly known as RW...

Report! Report!

Maybe diaglo/David or howandwhy99/David could write up a review for us. Of the ice cream.

Oh, and you could mention how RW did if you think it is relevant to your enjoyment of the ice cream.

The ice cream came from:

Atlanta

Cold Stone Creamery
1579 North Decatur Road NE

Atlanta, GA 30307

Phone: 404-377-0611

Stone 207

This is in the Emory Village. A little sweet for my diabetic tastes. I tried the Caramel Vanilla Butternut. RW had an even worse reaction to the Chunky Chocolate Cookie Chew. howandwhy99 went for the lemonade first.

and the rest of the story...

First off let me dispel a few myths. The author known as RangerWickett…aka…Ryan Nock does not look like his ENWurld avatar, nor do the pics from the Ennies really do him justice. He has a very welcoming constant smile and firm handshake. A friendly get to know you guy. He is not hairy. His eyes give you a sense of the RW you read on the boards…inquisitive with a hint of mystery and a spark of the devious.

Second, he is very verbose. And from the size of his…entourage..;) Charismatic. He is also very observant. He picked howandwhy99 and I out of the crowd without even looking for or asking for our dice. Plus he is polite to his elders and genuine.

And finally from observing his style of attire and posture…laidback, but not slovenly so. A lady’s man really. In fact, I had the chance to see a young lady flirting for his attention.

The event included 15 authors…RW was 12th on the list to read with about 50 people in the attendance. Each reader took 5 minutes on average. Before attending I had thought he would be doing a short story. In the few moments we had to chat while enjoying or not enjoying the ice cream he mentioned the Great Computer Crash of 2003. So…his first poem was a recollection of life in Texas. And before his second and final poem he prefaced a little…a poem of Dungeons & Dragons…one not to cause harm, but to have fun telling a story. Actually this had the hidden double meaning in a room full of storytellers/writers. There is a definite difference in a BS and a BA. So I can’t go too far into the mechanics of what I heard. But suffice it so say an enjoyable time was had by all. Although, I had to apologize to my 14000 dice afterwards for listening to such heresy.

Just for the record, Diaglo's lovely wife decided to bow out and attend another lecture on contracting infectious diseases. So, it fell to me to take her place for the evening.

BTW, the ice cream was great! I don't understand why most people skipped over "chocolate indulgence". It seemed the logical choice.

Cold Stone is good ice cream. Sorry I couldn't be there. Sounds like diaglo took one look at RW and decided it was best to keep his wife away from the ewok-charm.

I hope you didn't let him talk you into "taking her place" for too much of the evening!

Brilliant sense of logic.

At first we were a little out of place as most of the audience members were friends of the presenters. But I'm really glad I went. Each student read for 5 minutes from work that they had previously prepared for class. Most readings were amusing and all were very well done. I especially liked how diverse and personal each presenter's work was. It was mini-poetry readings by 15 aspiring artists.

Shh..
*I don't want Diaglo to notice this as he's usually not that observant to subtlety*

Thank you very much. It was great to have you guys in attendance. I suppose now I ought to put up a pic of myself in the galleries so that my apparently-inappropriate GenCon photo misleads no more.

*grin* Thanks a ton for coming. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I hope that nothing was too off-putting, even John Kerry's daughter the vampire.
