One of the plans for Modern20 from the beginning was that it be a "living" game, growing and changing over time as countless players and game masters stress-tested the game and pushed it to its limits.

Now, after GenCon, the first major revision of Modern20 will come, adding 15 pages of new material to the core rules and revising some little "trouble spots" that have been pointed out by players and GMs.

And better yet, for those who have purchased Modern20 already, they will be able to update their book to the revised edition for free!

More information on Modern20 Revised will be available after GenCon, so stay tuned!

Thinking more about this. If there is enough interest do you think you'd make Modern20 available as a hardback on Lulu?

We've talked about this and I think it's more a question of when than if. We're going to bundle the book together with some supplements.

Some more information on this massive update.

In addition to numerous fixes and revisions, Modern20 Revised will include:

Information on 131 small arms from the 1890's to the 21st century. These weapon stats include information on the year each weapon entered service, allowing you to set your Modern20 campaign in Prohibition, WWII, the Cold War or the modern age.

The original edition had stats for 39 firearms.

Also, damage for all firearms has been modified following feedback from military personnel and gun enthusiasts. While Modern20 is still a game and fun still came first, it is believed that the modified weapon stats will inject a little more realism into your games.

Modern20 revised includes 33 new feats, 30 of which are class specific (5 each per class). These feats will help further define each class' party role and allow for greater customization.

All material from Modern Supplement #1, which included 4 new Occupations, two FX skills first seen in Martial Arts20 and the Hunters psychic campaign model, as well as numerous Optional Combat rules incorporating Hit Location into your game in new and exciting ways have been included in the core rules.

As a result of being folded into the core rules, Modern20 Supplement #1 will become a free product when Modern20 Revised is released.

In all, we estimate the size of the core rules will be going from 106 to over 125.

And as I said previously, this massive update will be free to everyone who currently owns Modern20.

That's a great publishing policy. If only more publishers followed suit.

This is probably a dumb question, but is there, or will there be, a Darwin's World conversion? And if there is already, would that also be updated any time?

Well, it was always our intention for Modern20 to be a living game. We didn't stress that in our initial marketing because, frankly, we weren't sure the game would catch on, so we didn't want to promise something we couldn't deliver.

Also, the timing of the update got a little bump. Our tentative plan had been another Modern Supplement, followed by an update around Christmas. However, GenCon is my vacation week (one reason I don't go to the Con, it makes a *perfect* week for me to kick back) and we had gotten feedback asking for more weapons, and to tweak the weapons stats.

I also had the 30 new feats, which I'd been using in my home game for a few months.

So I decided to take my vacation and add Supplement #1, the WWI Small Arms book we did, a Modern20 version of the Cold War small arms book we did for B&G and a whole bunch of totally new firearms, along with the new feats.

It was a bigger update (and more work!) than I planned, but I'm excited by the result and I hope all you folks will be too, both those who already own Modern20 and the folks on the fence this commitment from us gets to check the game out.

This is probably a dumb question, but is there, or will there be, a Darwin's World conversion? And if there is already, would that also be updated any time?

We've thought about and talked about it at length, BELIEVE ME.

I think where we currently stand on the issue is that there won't be a formal point-for-point conversion. What we WILL be doing, is a Post Apocalyptic20, which will contain all the crunch necessary for bringing any PA setting to life, from Darwin's World, to Gamma World, to Jeremiah, to the Road Warrior, to the Stand.

We think that will be a better course. Darwin's World has a LOT of support, especially adventure support, and is still doing very brisk business. A new edition now would risk forking the fan base.

On the other hand, for those who really love Modern20, a PA20 would give them all the tools they needed.

Well, that's understandable. Luckily, I managed to pick up a DW 2.0 hardcover in recent times, and yeah, I don't see it being too much work anyhow. Glad to hear the line's still doing well. It should! :)

Post-Apoc20 could work pretty well, I think, in terms of mechanics suiting flavour. That'll be something to check out, for sure.
