Comments sought: demi-animal template

hong

WotC's bitch
Because 1) I don't like the idea of a druid, ranger or shaman chopping and changing their animal companions as they go up levels; and 2) I hate, hate, hate the legendary animals in MotW and MM2, I've come up with a "demi-animal" template which I've posted in the House Rules forum.

It basically lets you take a lowly wolf, boar or other animal companion and boost it up as you advance in levels, by spending XP. As its HD increase, it gains SR and DR much like a celestial or fiendish creature, plus some other benefits. I'm aiming at a CR roughly half the HD, which I figure should allow it to be useful at high levels without overshadowing the other PCs.

Any comments people would have would be very welcome. See URL below.

Sounds like a good idea. Make it so they can gain character levels. :)
