Common mistakes you have made as a player

My 5th/2nd level cleric/necromancer routinely forgets to check his arcane spell failure chance when he casts a necromancer spell instead of a divine spell.:(

Our group routinely forgets arcane spell failure. Fortunately we are high enough level that the wizard/cleric has bracers of armor and he doesn't have a spell failure any more.

In addition, damage reduction is another one. We go from one extreme to the other. Either we apply it to too much or forget it totally. I'm playing a dwarven defender and DR 3/- is actually pretty huge. Now that I've had it for a level or two now, the DM is used to it. But sometimes it gets accidently applied to fireballs.

Hmm....i played a rogue, and forgot a lot of times about sneak attack damage >_<
I took Dodge, and forgot it quite often
Point blank shot, ditto.
MIGHT have stacked things i shouldnt (like having a 19 reflex save at 12th level?

Half my group has something written in block letters and highlighted at the top of their character sheet. Mine's RING OF SPELL RESISTANCE, my brother's is POWER ATTACK !!!!!! We're thinking of adding a few more exclamation marks to his  .

I had a barabarian character once who switched off using a bastard sword one handed with a sheild to using a bastard sword two handed. There were many times when she was using the sword tow-handed that I kept adding in the shield bonus for my +2 large sheild to her AC. Oops!

Similar for me. I have an archer with a buckler, and a couple of times I included the buckler benefit in his AC in a round when he'd used the bow. Now I have "AC using bow" and "AC not using bow" on my character sheet.

There are some feats that are so hard for me to remember that I never end up taking them or using them on my NPCs. Dodge is one that's really hard for me to remember, so is Point Blank Shot.

Heh. This reminds me of our team bard that kept having to write "dodge" on his knuckles just to remember he had the feat. When he eventually plummeted 200ft to his death (after falling off a bridge) the cleric lent over the edge of the chasm and yelled "don't forget to dodge!" :p

P.S. Oh yeah; *bump* (Been away for so long...having to go back 20 pages just to catch up...)

I consistantly forget to apply my sneak attack damage when I'm flanking or when my opponent's flat footed. Guess that's what happens when you start in fighter and dual into rogue.

I don't know where we got this idea, but for the first few months of playing 3E we thought charges did double damage regardless of the weapon used. Glad we figured that one out. :)

My wizard DAZED (cantrip) a 8th level fighter long enough for two rogues to get the slammy on him.

The half orc barbarian/ftr in our group sucked at combat - never dawned on him that he could use power attack or weapon spec, oh yea he forgot the who 2 handed thing also. Many laughs over that one.
