I recently watched Matt Colville's long video about finding an online community in the TTRPG space, and I wanted to share a thought I had. I am grateful for the ENWorld Community. There are many, many, many spaces to talk about TTRPGs with people on the internet, but in most that I've found, the toxicity is off the charts: people go out of their way to be complete jerks about...everything. The pettiness and bullying is just off the charts, and I have found that I can get sucked right into that if I let myself. Facebook and X are the worst. So as I thought about Colville's analysis of online communities, how to find them, how to create them, and how to be a good citizen if you are in one, I wanted to say thank you to ENWorld and the many thoughtful, helpful, and kind people I've chatted with here. This is a bright corner of an often-times dark fandom. I appreciate you all! Thanks for letting me participate.
A happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate. Be well.
