D&D General Companion Thread to D&D Survivor: Dragons, Metallic

I find the fact people seem to make dull good depressing, most of evil is the banalest stuff possible.
It may be just me but I find that Chromatics seem better suited to their Habitats than the metallics are. The idea of a Black dragon lurking in the swamp, the waters turning acidic as it corrupts the area works for me, same as a grinning Green hiding in the forest undergrowth, stalking their pray or the fiery Red blasting down from the mountain like a pyroclastic flow.

I dont get the same feeling for metallics, at least gem dragons have a few quirks to differentiate them

Level Up has four different kinds of Dragons- Chromatic, Essence, Gem and Metallic. With the exception of the Gem Dragons, the other three have a role to play. Chromatic Dragons reshape the land, Metallic Dragons cultivate it and Essence Dragons embody it. Black Dragons don't just lurk in a swamp, their presence slowly turns the area around their lairs into a swamp. The presence of a Blue Dragon causes plants to wither as the land slowly turns into a desert.
Metallic Dragons otoh consider themselves stewards of their territories. They manage the resources found around their lairs.

blue is out of place deserts are not known for blue past the sky nor lightning for that matter.

gems are odd but need to care about something as randomly finding them seems a poor option.

metalis feel both boring poorly placed and in need of cool things to be doing with out stepping to much on the toes of humanoid heroes but not being servants

Gem Dragons in Level Up like their counterparts in D&D are psionic to some degree. They value information over material wealth.

The reason Essence Dragon embody the land is because they're spiritually linked to a specific area or landmark. They bear some resemblance to dragons living in an oriental setting.

The Iron Dragon in 4e was the metallic equivalent of the White Dragon. Like the White Dragon, they weren't as intelligent as the other metallic dragons and relied more on brute force. Why did WoTC replace the Bronze and Brass dragons in 4e with the Iron Dragon?
Bronze and Brass are alloys, plus Brass are a bit same-y to some of the other Metallics, so we got the new two to change it up

Slightly OT, wouldn't it be neat if the list of Metallic Dragonborn was expanded to include the 4e Metallic Dragons like the Cobalt Dragon? A Cobalt Dragonborn (using the Dragonborn from Fizban's) would have a Cold Breath (30' line) and a Dulling Breath (
The dragon exhales gas in a 15-foot cone. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 12 Intelligence saving throw or have disadvantage on Intelligence-based attack rolls, Intelligence checks, and Intelligence saving throws for 1 minute. A creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.)
