Don't know if it counts as news, but I'm reading the Shinning South and they mention a few changes to make the Dread Pirate a FR style PrC. An interesting method of providing a few tidbigs in role playing and background as opposed to reprinting the whole PrC.

Very interesting indeed. The Dread Pirate (as rotten a PrC as it might be) is rather central to my current campaign. I'm really hoping it will be reworked and included in the Complete Adventurer and this might give some hope to that idea. Either way, now I've got to go peruse a copy of the Shining South. It's the name of a bardic college in Greyhawk City.

In the 1e PHB, all Bards were members of one of the seven Bardic Colleges, depending on their level. The bardic instruments all are named for the Colleges as well.

1: (Probationer)
2-4: Fochlucan
5-7: MacFuirmidh
8-10: Doss
11-13: Canaith
14-16: Cli
17-19: Anstruth
20-22: Ollamh
23: Magna Alumnae

However, I suspect the later revision of Fochlucan will be used.
