Complete D&D Monster Index (June 2008)

Okay, an update for the latest KoDT magazines:

#138 – “Rustlers of the Night.” A new monster, the death-blood medusa, is given here.

#139 – “Rustlers of the Night.” A new monster is given here: the hunger tree. It needs some errata (e.g. a -5 penalty to Initiative for a Dex of -- ).

I'm also wondering now if KoDT monsters should even be in the list at all. It seems clear now that they weren't actually considered second-party products under the license Kenzer had with WotC, but were actually printed using copyright law to be compatible. Hence, they're not "D&D" creatures in any sense.

Actually, nonabilities have a modifier of +0 (Dex - is not the same as Dex 0).

That's a good point. I suspect they don't really qualify, but it's Echohawk's list. ;)

I agree. :p ;)

Yeah, until later in that thread where it seems as though I talked you out of removing the KoDT monsters from the list. D'oh!
Heh heh. Well, the absence of the OGL for those articles was a fairly persuasive rationale for them being counted as licensed creatures :D

Shattered Fractine gone (Monsters of the Void links out of date)

Shattered Fractine has been taken offline. I've spoken to the webmaster of Shattered Fractine and can confirm that he has no plans to bring it back.

I mentioned this in the Unconverted Spelljammer creatures thread, but didn't have a new location of the conversions at that time, so didn't mention it here.

Now I do have a new location. The Beyond the Moons webmaster has made a space for Shattered Fractine within the Spelljammer archive called The Lost Spheres.

Here is the new Shattered Fractine homepage (within The Lost Spheres).

Here is the new Monsters of the Void page.

Obviously this means that the Shattered Fractine links in Echohawk's index are out of date.

Dear Mr Hawk (Or can I call you Echo? :p ),

Please can you update these links in the next edition of your index.

Yours Linklessly,

Big Mac

Done! The new links will appear in the next version of the index. Thanks for the update on the whereabouts of the Monsters of the Void.

(And you're very welcome to call me 'Echo' :p )

No problem.

The whole SJ fan community was really disapointed about Shattered Fractine going offline as it is such a popular website, so I've been trying to make sure everyone knows where it has moved to.

There are four completed SJ monster conversions missing from Monsters of the Void. I asked the Shattered Fractine webmaster to forward them to the Beyond the Moons webmaster (so they could be inserted into the archive of his website).

I'll give you another ping if/when that happens (as I don't expect any other changes to happen to Monsters of the Void). Having said that, I know the Beyond the Moons guy would be very happy for the Shattered Fractine archive to get updated by its webmaster.

Link update: Draconic Hybrids... is now also archived at Candlekeep, under Alaundo's Library and then Traveler's Notebooks. Link here.
