[Complete Divine] Rapid Spell

Hypersmurf

Moderatarrrrh...
Someone with Complete Divine handy - can you check Rapid Spell for me?

Is it a +1 level adjustment?

And if the spell in question normally has a casting time of 2 rounds, does Rapid Spell make it 1 round?

Thanks.

Sure.

Yes.

Yes, if the casting time is measured in rounds, Rapid Spell reduces it to 1 round. If it's measured in minutes, it's reduced to 1 minute. If it's measured in hours, it's reduced to 1 hour.

Thanks.

No problem.

I thought that was the case.

Damn. Not enough.

Is there anything else out there (Quicken Spell's no good, in this case) to reduce casting time?

I'm trying to get Permanency down to a standard action. Rapid Spell gets it... halfway there :)

Contingency?

No, that wouldn't do what I'm after :)

However, it gave me a thought - and it looks like Limited Wish might do it...

I want to use the Dweomerkeeper's Supernatural Spell ability to cast a non-dispellable buff, with a non-dispellable Permanency. But Supernatural Spell only works on spells with a casting time of a standard action or less.

Limited Wish has a standard action casting time, regardless of the spell it's duplicating...

Edit - huh, and as an incidental bonus, since Supernatural Abilities are componentless, you sidestep the XP component of both Limited Wish and Permanency...

Do the rules say explicitly that Su abilities have no components? I thought the line didn't allow you to sidestep an XP cost, but I might be confused.

"XP Cost" is an entry under "Components" in the Magic Overview section. (Supported by the fact that spell-like abilities "are not spells and so have no verbal, somatic, material, focus, or XP components".)

From the Supernatural Spell description:
"The spell functions as it normally would and is expended normally, but the dweomerkeeper does not require any components..."

I'd think, that the one standard action actually refers to the regular casting time, or not?

Well, it refers to the casting time of the spell.

The casting time of a Rapid Permanency is not two rounds, it's one round. Which is still more than a standard action, so it's moot in this case.
