durring my last campaign we had a crazy combat between two airships flying at about 1000 feet. the more dexterous members of the party jumped across while the airships were still closing and proceded to beat the life out of the goblin crew on the rival airship.

First session of testing the ELH, we had prepared 30th level characters and were ready to kick some epic butt. So the DM put us against 12... uh, undead demigods or something. Can't remember the name.

Round 1 took something like 2 hours, and yet nothing much importante happened. Each of us, including the GM, had to spend minutes looking up our respective boatloads of special abilities and spells. I, playing a sorcerer, could cast like three spells per round of any level, and I summoned a colossal spider to grapple the blasted creatures.

After round 2, it was getting dark outside and it was clear that they basically couldn't hurt us significantly, and OTOH they were able to regenerate very quickly. The fight was going to be a long one. The enemies started teleporting out. No casualties yet.

During round 3, it seemed like all the enemies would teleport away. So I casted a couple Polymorph Any Object, turned two undead demigods into carrots, and ate them.

Now, if turning undead demigods into carrots and eating them isn't insane, then I don't know what is.
