Complexity vs. Simplicity in Character Design

Ah. OK. I was misreading then.
You were misreading me certainly. I was thinking of things like Fort/Ref/Will working like AC, which some people found less magical because it changed who was rolling the dice - but didn't change what the characters were doing and allowed things like rogues attacking Ref for really precise strikes.
