Space Quest!

Also, I loved Hero's Quest ... BEFORE it became Quest for Glory 1.

All of the Sierra games where you had to type fast were great. We used to play them as two man teams, one person on joystick, the other on keyboard.

I spent a lot of time working out all the stuff you could do with "razzle dazzle root beer" in HQ1. Teleport, stat inflation ... it was great.

It took us a week to get past one part of police quest 1, because you needed to type a command with your knightstick fast enough.

Oh! How could I forget Lords of Midnight? I played that game on my C64 every day for about a year. Finally beat it, too.

I still own a copy of the original, ported to PC ... it came with the third game in the series (which was a bit of a disappointment, personally).

I loved the old Sierra games. They were basically the first non - C64 games I ever played. Learned a lot of English that way... We had a two-man team too, one guy running the game, the other guy manning the dictionary. :)

The there was Maniac Mansion, the granddaddy of all Lucas Arts adventure games.

I don't remember if it was mentioned or not, but Pirates! was absolutely amazing for its time.

Pirates was absolutely phenomenal. My cousin had it on his Tandy 1000, and I fell in love with it instantly. Sid Meier is still making great games...

By the way, if you liked Pirates, check out Sea Dogs (and Sea Dogs 2, when it's released). It's basically a clone of Pirates with a 3D engine and a few new features. Great stuff.

The Ultima series was great.. I have even downloaded Ultima IV onto my ::cough:: Pentium4 2.4 Ghz machine... LOL its a whopping 1mb in size LOL.. just imagine that it took a lot of my old C-64 resources to run that....

I also remember playing the pre-cursor to the Ultima series written by Lord British... called Akallabeth (A Tolkien name for the Downfall of Numenor). THAT was an old RPG.....all text like Zork.

ahhhh...memories.... before they fade into oblivion... wait...

what were we talking about again??

The Marathon series was classic as well. Multiplayer was a blast. Kill the man with the skull. Running out of ammo for the assault rifle (click, click, click), then the other guy knew he was dead because he knew a rifle grenade was coming.

Pathways into Darkness was scary. You'd turn the corner in this Mayan pyramid and a monster would pop out and start spitting at you.

Ah those were the days.

Ah yeah I had Wizard's Crown on the C64.. That was a great game! I thought it was pretty funny that if you travelled far enough south on the map, you could run into killer rabbits that could nearly take out your whole party. I remember I got all the way to the floor before the last of teh wizard's keep and got stuck, I couldn't figure out for the life of me how to continue. Ah, I think I put aside that game for the first Buck Rodgers SSI gold box game. I sold my computer with all the games before I beat a lot of them.:(

Wing Commander - Best flight sim series EVER! WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE COMING OUT!!!!???
X-Wing Alliance is quite good, as well.
The Quest for Glory series is the one that got me hooked on RPGs, I'll never stop liking that one.(Dragon Fire was SUCH a dissapointment, even if my paladin COULD marry Erana.)
Legend of Kyrandia is where it's at, especially Hand of Fate.

I know it's not that old..but....BALDUR'S GATE , SHADOWS OF AMN, and THRONE OF BHAAL are the best CRPGs EVER!!! The party interaction....Minsc and Boo!....Romances!.....! WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE BEING MADE!? please....I need my fix.......Angcuru needs his medicine........
